While he will miss sharing the spotlight with fellow co-stars, Jane Elliot (Tracy), Finola Hughes (Anna) and Maura West (Ava), he undoubtedly had a blast working with Maurice Benard (Sonny). Burgi also stated that he has struggled with the violent turn his character has taken in his final months on the soap, especially his brutal assassination of Nurse Sabrina Santiago (Teresa Castillo).
Burgi told Soap Opera Digest that “As an actor, I’ve done crazy things and I probably will again, but that was very disturbing and I had a difficult time with it. I’m grateful for the work, for the experience, and I made some great friends”.
In the most recent episode of General Hospital, viewers saw Anna and Dillion (Palmer Watkins) rush to save Tracy from Paul’s clutches and he was later detained and since he plans to plead guilty to all the murders that he claims he committed in his catatonic daughter, Susan’s name, he will surely go to prison. This of course, leaves the door open for a return to the show in the future but for now it looks as if Richard Burgi has other adventures on his mind.
