‘General Hospital’ News: Nicolas Bechtel Celebrates Baby Cousin’s Arrival, Disney Channel Premiere, And His 11th Birthday – Congratulations!

‘General Hospital’s’ Nicolas J. Bechtel (Prince Spencer Stefan Niklosovich Cassadine), tweeted yesterday, “My baby cousin is here. My new show premieres today. My birthday is tomorrow. I have it ALL!”

He’s one excited 11 year-old with so much going his way; and who can blame him? Nicolas’s new show, “Stuck in The Middle”, on Disney Channel, had its pilot episode aired last night, Sunday, February 14, 2016, and it seems like it’s going to be a resounding success for him! He plays Lewie Diaz on the show.

I personally, as a long-time fan and follower of General Hospital, can’t believe he’s turning 11 today! I miss him on GH, but am so glad to see him stretching for his goals and achieving his dreams… all while remaining grounded and family-oriented.

Nicolas first started portraying Spencer Cassadine on May 16, 2013, but the character of Spencer has been a character on General Hospital since February 2006, when the part was then portrayed by twins Nicholas and Caden Laughlin; and then by twins Nathan and Spencer Casamassima from October 2006 until 2007.

While the part of Spencer Cassadine has been played by a number of young boys… the last one being Davin Ransom from 2009 – 2011, the young Prince was only mentioned by name until Nicolas got the part and has now made Spencer a much-loved, mischievous, endearing young boy… with a vocabulary that’s almost as big as he is tall.

In his new Disney show, Bechtel has the role of Lewie, and is just one of seven kids in the large Diaz family. The main focus will be centered on middle child Harley Diaz, who will be played by actress Jenna Ortega. She loves to invent things, which seems to be easier for her than trying to figure out to navigate her way through life and her large, Latino family.

I see this new venture, Stuck in the Middle, as a great opportunity for young Nicolas… but can’t wait to see him back on the General Hospital set, and on our screens, wreaking havoc for his father, Nicholas Cassadine (Tyler Christopher) and being up to his mischief-making self.
