‘General Hospital’ News: Liz and Sam’s History of Hostility – A Look Back At The War For Jason’s Heart And What’s Ahead

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that the war for Jason Morgan’s [Billy Miller] heart is far from over and Liz Webber [Rebecca Herbst] and Sam Morgan [Kelly Monaco] will remain at each other’s throats for a while yet.
But for those who are newer to the show, you may not know exactly the root of all the anger between these two women. It’s far more than just two ladies that both love the same man. With Liz and Sam, it’s more than a decade of infighting, lies and schemes.
In many ways, both women have an equal claim on Jason – and that’s why there’s a hardcore following for both Jason and Liz (Liason) – and Jason and Sam (JaSam). Let’s consider their positions and whether one really has more right to Jason than the other.
Time they’ve known Jason: Liz wins this one because she knew him back when she was much younger so Liz has had more chronology with Jason.
Kids with Jason: This is a tie since both have one child with Jason, but Liz got there first with little Jake Spencer [James Nigbor] before Sam had Danny.
Dumped due to danger: Both Sam and Liz were dumped by Jason at various times because he felt his mob lifestyle was too dangerous for them. But all that has changed now.
Lies, lies, lies: Both Sam and Liz have told lies to try and keep Jason away from the other – Sam lied about Jake’s kidnapping and Liz lied about Danny’s paternity. Both have dirty hands here.
Prior marriages: Both Sam and Liz have sketchy histories with men. Sam married many men to con them out of cash. Liz married Ric Lansing [Rick Hearst] – he counts for several bad decisions.
Cheating: Liz never cheated on Jason, but she did cheat with Jason. Sam slept with Lucky Spencer [Jonathan Jackson] and Ric, but Liz is no saint…
Job history: Liz has Sam beat hands down here. She was an artist turned nurse while Sam was essentially a criminal and then a PI. Thumbs up for nurses!
Related hookups: Liz slept with Jason’s brother AJ Quartermaine and Sam slept with his pal Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard]. So both have a Jason-adjacent hookup in their past.
Memory loss: Liz took Jake Doe in when everyone in town hated him – and Sam stayed by Jason’s side when he had an amnesia bout then had risky neuro-surgery.
Mourning together: Jason and Liz mourned together over the loss of their son Jake when he died after the hit and run – and Sam and Jason bonded over the loss of stillborn baby Lila (hers with Sonny).
Kids at risk: Sam put Liz and her kids in danger by hiring thugs to hassle them. But then later, Sam did redeem herself by facing gunfire to protect Liz and the kids from the Russian mob.
Death threats: Jason is furious at Liz right now but, at one point, he threatened to kill Sam after she put Liz and the kids in harm’s way. So far, Liz hasn’t earned a death threat from Jason.
The bottom line on Liz versus Sam is that they both want Jason and they both think they have the right to have him and the other one not. Both share kids, a long history, and a lot of love with Jason. So what’s the answer?
Once and for all, Liz and Sam need to step back and let Jason make the choice. Maybe they need to play the dating game and let him see them both for a while so he can sort his feelings for them on equal footing.
But once Jason decides on one or the other – or neither – they should respect his decision. But will they? They certainly never have in the past… What’s also important to consider is if they keep tearing each other down to try and win Jason, they could both lose him.
Is that the position both Sam and Liz will now adopt? Would they rather Jason was with neither of them than one over the other? Will their bitterness result in Jason walking away and into the arms of another woman in Port Charles?

Team Liz!
The last year has made things very clear to me. Liz and Jake developed a connection and fell in love w/o knowing who he was. Sam/Jake felt no connection or love. In fact, Sam was actually hostile to him for many months. She didn’t feel anything for him til his real identity was known.
There was nothing when they recreated their vows, when they kissed, etc… Liz/Jason felt almost instantly connected and love bloomed long before Liz learned who he was.
That’s kismet !
Jason & Sam have the best chemistry………Sam is tough like Jason & Liz is a little whinning,
conniving liar that tries to appear as goody two shoes! I have watched general hospital for
50 years & seen the actors come & go so I really think the Sam & Jason needs to stay even though
I favored Steve Burton & sad to see him leave if this Jason end up with Liz I won’t be consistant
with watching regulary!!!!!

1. Liz married Ric multiple times
2. Liz was also married to Lucky and engaged to him. (Ppl seem to skip over her history with Lucky because it blows this “16 years of “love” and yearning and missed opportunities” out of the water.)
3. Liz put Danny in danger when she LIED about the paternity test results. If she had told the truth Heather wouldn’t have gotten to Danny and he wouldn’t have almost went off a freaking roof. If Danny had gotten sick while still with Tea AFTER the test results she would be responsible for his possible death because biologically he wasn’t with the right parents.
4.Jake is the product of a ONS with a faulty condom by a drunk and hurting man and a Desperate woman who took advantage of the situation at hand.
5.Liz put her own kids in Danger! If Jason was too dangerous to be a father to Jake then the last thing his enemies needed to see was Liz and Jason sneaking off for late night booty calls.?
6.Liz took a child from Jason she wasn’t the first to give him one. ? Liz didn’t think Jason was good enough to be Jakes father until the both came back from the dead and he didn’t know who he was and essentially wasn’t Jason yet.
7.Liz lied to Jason about Sam,Danny and even in the beginning about Jake AND then when he’s back she lied about who he was,that Jake is his and Sam and Danny yet again! Liz continues to Lie all the time.
8.Liz herself says Jason would never choose her if he could. ?
9.Liz was “in love” with Ric but attracted to Jason when she knew he was Jake! They weren’t “in love” they were in like and or in lust! Liz didn’t decide she was “in love” with Jake until she was told he was Jason and then bam! She’s “in love” and the legs spread! Let’s keep it ? on that!?
10.Yes you’re right No Jason has never threatened Liz! She doesn’t invoke any emotion in him. Not anything substantial or real. He doesn’t truly love her. She brings out zero emotions in him. He found out about her lies and he’s just done. No anger or anything just done. That right there says a lot.????

I agree! This article is terrible and incredibly bias in Liz’s favor. The number one deciding factor here is the fact that not only did Jason marry Sam, he IS her husband. It matters not how the story is twisted to give Liz a shove towards Jason. Jason made his choice to marry Sam when he knew his own mind and he knew who he was. He only decided to marry Liz when he had no memory of his life and of the people in his life, and the reasons HE chose NOT to be with Liz.

Totally agree with everything you all have said, this article is BS.
I wish they would show Liz being less desperate. She use to be an artist, can’t she still be shown doing something she enjoys at home. She is so clingy and needy that it turns people off. She is a grown women and a nurse. She should date other people and show Jason she is not desperate at all. It is demeaning to women to show other women on soaps running after men. Jason should take his time and stay alone and try to decide who he really is as a person before he jumps in to any relationship. Then I hope the writers can keep a couple married and happy. I am so sick of marriage meaning the death of a soap couple. Couples I know are anything but boring and do much more in everyday life then fight or make love. They run a business, shop, go out, have fun, go to church, exercise, help other people, politics, teachers, counselors, writers, coaches, sports people. Use your imagination!
I can’t take this article seriously since it’s obviously biased towards Liz. Like Sam is attacked because she salvaged and then was a P.I.? So being an artist and nurse makes someone a better person? That argument is seriously dumb. The biggest WTF argument is defending Liz deserving Jason because she’s known him longer.
Plus, Sam has been on GH since 2003. Liz came in 1996. It’s not like Liz has been on since she was a child. There is a 7 year difference. AND in that 7 year difference Liz was with Lucky/Nic/Ric/random doctor guy (can’t remember his name. She wasn’t dating or even pining after Jason then. It would be way different if Sam had come to town and stolen Jason from Liz. That’s not how it happened at all. The build up of Jason and Sam happened naturally and organically after she came to town, she didn’t con Jason into marrying her or into staying with her. She didn’t keep him from knowing a wife/son. She did threaten Liz/kids, but ended up atoning for it and she paid for it. It’s not like she got away with that.
I don’t know why Liz fans seem to think that Liz can do whatever the hells he wants AND can get away with it. And then have the audacity to bash people like Carly/Sam and claim they do whatever they want. Which is true. They do, but they get reamed over the coals for it whenever they do and a lot of Carly/Sam fans are the first to admit that Carly and Sam have done some truly messed up stuff. But they don’t sit around and justify their actions and point fingers at other characters. Liz however, according to her fans is completely justified in doing something horrible, because Carly/Sam have sometimes done some bad stuff too. Carly/Sam’s past actions have nothing to with what Liz’s current situation. Just because Liz has tried to blame them, doesn’t mean they are actually to blame. That’s called transference. Liz is looking to take blame from herself to justify her horrendous actions toward multiple people.
Liz has hurt Danny, Jake, Spencer, Aiden Sam, Jason, Patrick, Emma, Carly, Sonny (plus their kids), and The Quartermaines with her actions. Her actions directly impacted many lives in Port Charles. She has to accept the consequences of it. I’m so tired of Liz fans constantly trying to justify her current actions as being okay even a little bit. They aren’t. She needs to accept the consequences and move on.

Watching this video just reminds me of all the reasons I despise Liz. Her tone, always twisting things, and thinking he’s right.
Both of them needs to back off and give him breathing room.liz knows that he is married.i couldn’t see him with another woman,but it is possible.sam is giving him space to try to fine himself.jason ,just needs time.

Alright this article isn’t biased enough in my opinion.
Liz, Lucky, Nik, Emily were all teens when she started the show. It was established that Carly, Jason, AJ, Robin were all early twenties during the whol Carly trying to keep Mikey away from AJ.
1st time Jason ever saw Liz was when Jason’s garage burned down & Lucky was believed dead, b/c he was living above Jason’s garage. Liz & Lucky used to hang out in the boxcars & this is where Liz found Jason after he had been shot the first time.
2. Liz is a nurse today b/c she took care of Jason’s wounds & hid him out with help from Bobbie. Liz & Jaso lived together in the studio…Meanwhile Carly & Sonny were cutout of Jason’s life, b/c they are the reason he got ambushed.
3. Liz never slept with AJ.. She married Ric & Lucky. She had no reason to even be in love with him since he locked Carly away & tried to put Jason in jail after Jakes paternity came out.
4. Sam did cheat on Jason with Ric & he saw her sleep with Ric.. Lucky was still cheating on Liz with Maxie & she walked in on them. So get the story straight!
5. Jason bought the house Liz lives in now, not Emily.
6. Jason & Liz have also lived together in his penthouse.
Way before Sam showed up, he asked her to live with him & they broke up b/c he lied to Liz. He didn’t tell her Brenda was alive & in danger. Liz chose to move out & break up.
7. Jason consoled Liz about Lucky over & over. He always saw her as to young to be in his dangerous lifestyle.. His words not hers.
8. Lucky slept with Liz’s sister & now Liz has slept with Nik multiple times. Despite all of this Robin/Emily have been her besties forever. Liz has always done right by Jason. She always talks it out with him & they confide in each other.
9. Sam has tried to get Jason to have a baby with her & he always refused. He even shut her down when Jake was born by saying Sam will never raise his son. He would never take Jake from Liz.
