Greg Vaughan recently confirmed that he was leaving ‘Days Of Our Lives‘ and his character Eric Brady would be exiting. Since the news broke that Vaughan was leaving ‘DOOL,’ rumors began running rampant that he was headed back to ‘General Hospital‘ to reprise the role of Lucky Spencer – and Greg isn’t exactly shutting them down.
Greg Vaughan took to Twitter over the weekend and teased fans about his AfterBuzz TV interview on January 24th, he tweeted “Talk about being a LUCKY guy this afternoon.” Obviously the tweet sent ‘General Hospital’ fans in to a frenzy. During his interview Greg addressed the rumors that he was heading back to the ABC soap opera and dished, “If the opportunity was there and right,” he would be open to a return. Greg mysteriously added, “I have another opportunity. If it happens, I won’t be going anywhere else in the daytime world.” You can watch Greg’s full interview right here.

Greg Vaughan played the part of Lucky Spencer on ‘General Hospital’ from 2003-2009. Jonathan Jackson later took over the role (again), however moved on from the ABC soap opera to pursue a music career in 2011, and the character of Lucky left the canvas. Now, the stars are aligning and it is the perfect time for Lucky Spencer to return – Liz (Rebecca Herbst) could definitely use a shoulder to cry on over her messy love triangle with Jason (Billy Miller) and Sam (Kelly Monaco). And, it seems pretty convenient that Greg Vaughan just happens to be leaving ‘DOOL’ right now – freeing him up to take on the role.
Of course, it is also worth mentioning that ABC’s current show manager Nathan Varni took to social media after Greg’s interview and informed fans that the rumors about Lucky Spencer’s return were just that – rumors. A fan asked Varni, “Are they going to bring Lucky back?” Nathan responded, “We’re not, just online rumors per normal, sorry!” Then again – even if ‘GH’ was bringing Greg back as Lucky, it wouldn’t be unusual for the show’s reps to try to keep the casting a big secret and Varni wouldn’t be able to confirm the news until the contracts are official.

What do you think ‘General Hospital‘ fans? Would you like to see Greg return as Lucky Spencer? Do you think there are any truth to the rumors? If they are nothing more than rumors, why would Greg be making such a big deal about them on Twitter and hinting that he is interested in returning on AfterBuzz? I would love to see Gregg back in the role of Lucky Spencer. He played the part very well. Come on GH, you are bringing back so many of the old characters (which I love since I have been watching since day one) why not bring Lucky back?
I would love to have him back as Lucky! !
It would be nice to have Greg back but not as Lucky. He is so different from the “real” Lucky, Jonathan Jackson who we saw grow up from childhood as Lucky.
Greg played the character totally differently when he was on before.
I think he should return as a new character, so that he doesn’t have to try to be Lucky.
He would have the freedom of creating a new character.
There is room for new characters. He need not be related to anyone. It’s ridiculous how they create all these new siblings, children lost at birth.
A new character can just be a new friend or new colleague of someone, just like people in real life hang out with friends who are not related.
I would love to see him play Lucky I miss him on DOOL but he’s a great actor or make more Hallmark movies or the Pixel channel
Let him play lucky or put him o more Hallmark amd Pixel movies he’s a great actor
No he was terrible as lucky
I would rather see the original Lucky back in Jonathan Jackson
