‘General Hospital’ News: Check Out Rick Hearst In The All New ‘The Vampire Diaries’ Promo (Video)

The new promo for The Vampire Diaries: Season 8, has a familiar face in it, General Hospital star Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing).

“Made the previews! Don’t forget to start your pre Halloween weekend with #thevampirediaries. Friday 10/28 on #thecw. I’m in the opening scene with #iansomerhalder,” Hearst captioned a fierce looking still from the hugely popular CW series.

It’s hard to tell if Hearst is dead or alive in the watery photo, but he’s being tended to by a beautiful woman which should make him want to open his eyes! Then again, it’s unclear from the angle if she’s trying to save him or drown him as he floats face up in the aquamarine liquid!

Based on the comments, it appears that there are more than a few dual GH/Vampire Diaries fans out there! “Omg you gave me a reason to start watching again!” and “that is one of my favorite shows!!! You are going to be on it?,” were some of the congratulatory responses.

The CW original is based on L. J. Smith’s widely read book series, The Vampire Diaries. The long-running series debuted in 2009 and stars Ian Somerhalder as vampire Damon Salvatore and Nina Dobrev as all-too-human Elena Gilbert.

Hearst didn’t reveal any details about his performance or character, but in the still shot he’s wearing a suit and tie, nice shoes and perfectly coiffed hair.

Hey, that description sounds an awful lot like his slick GH alter ego, Ric Lansing!  The shady lawyer was last seen in Port Charles as he tried to warn Nurse Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) to steer clear of paramour Franco (Roger Howarth).

Might we see Ric make another visit to town in the coming days? Stay tuned to find out if Ric returns to Port Charles to attend his nephew Morgan Corinthos’ (Bryan Craig) funeral.
