The rumor about, “General Hospital’s” Brytni Sarpy (Valerie Spencer) being bumped to recurring status is confirmed. The actress’ name is now absent from the soap’s closing credits, a listing that is reserved for contract actors.
But not to worry Sarpy fans, her change in contract status is not an automatic removal from the soap. Many actors on recurring status pop up in Port Charles every now and then, so we may still see Officer Valerie in the future.

The character of Valerie Spencer never caught fire with the GH fan base. To be fair, it was tough for viewers to accept a character who came on the canvas and set about seducing her cousin’s husband right after trying to kill her uncle.
It didn’t help that the characters in question were beloved GH vets Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) and Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan).
Fans were not pleased with Valerie’s disloyalty, and when TPTB tried to redeem the character it was a case of too little too late.
Valerie was transformed into a do-gooder as a member of the Port Charles Police Department, but not given much official work to do.
Her personal life fizzled as well. Her crush on Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) ended badly when the rogue P.I. purloined her police evidence. She was chem tested with Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Watkins), but nothing came of their brief flirtation.

Of course, her longest fling lasted with Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna). It was a hot combination, but the writers weren’t willing to break established couple Lante up for a hot hookup.
And that’s ironic, since Dante and Valerie had some serious heat. Oh well, you never know what will happen with a soap character in the long term. We still see veteran couple Felicia Jones Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) and Mac Scorpio (John J. York) occasionally, right?

I have to disagree with some of this story on Valerie. I hate that you lumped all the fans together about hating Valerie. Dom and Brytni have better chemistry then together then Dom and Emme have together. I saw a willing partner in Dante when he slept with Valerie. I feel the show didn’t even try to redeem Valerie.
ikr!! and i hate how these writers don’t even try to get LULU and VALARIE to be in scenes together they are SPENCERS they should be there for each other no matter what, lucky and nick found their way back to being brothers so there shouldn’t be an excuse on these writers end to mend the writing to put VALARIE and LULU back on good terms again…
The sooner the character is off our screens, the better. She didn’t catch on because the actress was wooden and uninspiring cementing the fact that though the writers gave the character everything they had, the character still couldn’t catch on. Valerie had chemistry with no one.
