‘General Hospital’ News: Bryan Craig Debunks Exit Rumors – His Decision To Leave Wasn’t About Money

Contrary to the rumors flying around, General Hospital’s (GH) Bryan Craig (ex-Morgan Corinthos) sets the record straight.  Craig explains that he met with executive producer Frank Valentini six months prior to his departure, explaining that he wanted to explore his options, and try new things; he admits he made his decision to leave before he won the Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actor in a Daytime series.

Craig goes on the explain that rather than negotiate a new contract, he let his current one end.  “I did not quit”, he said.  He chose not to renew his contract for another three years, but he was willing to stay on recurring, even offering to stay on as long as they needed him to wrap up any stories involving him.  Craig will continue to appear on screen into November, and admits, “It was a very nice parting.”

Craig enjoyed working with actors like Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), Laura Wright (Carly Corinthos) and Maura West (Ava Jerome) for the past three years, saying it has been amazing; but he had surpassed the goal he wanted to achieve when he initially signed on with GH.  He wanted to win an Emmy and then continue on with his career, pursuing other things.

Craig reveals that there was nothing that could have changed his mind.  It was not about the money or the higher status, it simply was time for him to move on.  Bryan Craig has met the love of his life while he was on General Hospital.  Now he is engaged to Kelly Thiebaud (ex-Britt Westbourne), and has a bright future ahead for him.
