‘General Hospital’ News: Alum Emma Samms Receives Prestigious Award From Queen Elizabeth

Former ‘General Hospital’ actress Emma Samms [Ex-Holly Sutton] has received a great honor. She took to Twitter where she shared “Such a lovely thing to happen”. She is now a Member of the Order of The British Empire as reported in the new issue of the Soaps in Depth Magazine.

Samms must be feeling really great especially since Queen Elizabeth awarded her for the good work that she has been doing. Samms received the award for the work she has done with children who are terminally ill. She started her charitable organization that aims to aid seriously and terminally ill children back in 1986. She named her organization Starlight and for this she received the great honor from the Queen.

Her organization w supports children not only in America but all over the world. About the honor she received, Samms shared that she wishes to share it with her brother who died as a result of an illness that had no cure at the time. Samms highlighted that it was her brother that inspired her to go forward with her Starlight project. Congratulations to Emma Samms for receiving such an honor, it is truly well deserved.

Samms is a British actress known for her role as Holly Sutton Scorpio on ‘General Hospital’. She has played the role on and off since 1983 with her most recent appearance being in 2015. Samms also played roles on notable shows such as; Dynasty, The Colbys, Bejewelled, Newhart, get a Life, Models Inc., Diagnosis Murder, The Lady and the Highwayman, Murder She Write, Murder in Three Acts, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Casualty, The Magic of David Copperfield XI, The Marksman, Dynasty Reunion, Shrimp on the Barbie and so much more.
