‘Empire’ Season 3 Spoilers: What’s Next for Jamal? Will Romance With D-Major Heat Up?

‘Empire’ Season 3 spoilers reveal that when the hit show returns this Fall on FOX, Jamal Lyon [Jussie Smollett] will play a prominent role as he continues his recovery from his shooting at the hands of Freda Gatz [Bre-z] with new boytoy Derek D-Major [Tobias Truvillion] close at hand.

Even though D-Major put Jamal on blast in front of Lucious Lyon [Terrence Howard] in the studio last season, Derek is now clearly trying to make things right with Jamal. You’ll recall in the finale episode of Empire Season 3 that Derek was close by while Jamal rehearsed the number for the wedding.

But has Jamal really forgiven D-Major? Can Jamal handle being with a guy who’s clearly on the DL about his sexual preferences? Empire showrunner Irene Chaiken told TVLine, “If D-Major wants to change and live more honestly, then there’s hope there for a relationship.”
