If you caught Wednesday’s episode of “Days of Our Lives,” you witnessed a shocking moment. After a fateful chat with Andre (Thaao Penghlis), Chase (Jonathon McClendon) was convinced he needed to change his strategy to win Ciara (Vivian Jovanni) over. Chase would soon make a devastating decision.
Despite Ciara’s attempt to push him away, Chase insisted that this was something they both wanted. DOOL fans gasped as Chase placed his hand over Ciara’s mouth and made his move. This horrific rape will undoubtedly be a pivotal incident that truly changes Ciara’s life.
In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Vivian Jovanni opened up about the powerful scenes and dramatic shift in her character. It seems Jovanni was warned in advance of the weighty material that was coming her way. It’s certainly a delicate issue, but Jovanni was on board with tackling it.
“I was nervous at first, but also very grateful to be getting the opportunity to explore this complex and layered storyline,” said Jovanni. The “Days of Our Lives” newcomer revealed that she even kept her family out of the loop on the twist. “I didn’t talk to anyone about it. I didn’t even tell my parents because they are fans of the show. I don’t share storyline with them,” Jovanni admitted.
In addition, Jovanni talked about her preparation for the rape scene. She grew closer to Jonathon McClendon and they discussed how to approach it. “We wanted the scene to be as realistic and spontaneous as possible,” Jovanni noted. Many “Days” watchers could definitely feel the tension.
It appears this material represented a major breakthrough for Jovanni. She pointed out how much it helped her develop her acting ability. “Playing emotional material like this has really opened my eyes as an actor, because I never expected that scene to get as real as it did for me,” Jovanni said. Stick with “Days of Our Lives” for updates on Ciara’s attempt to cope with this terrible ordeal.
