‘Days Of Our Lives’ News: Vanessa Williams Joins ‘DOOL’ Cast As Valerie Grant

Days Of Our Lives spoilers tease that Vanessa Williams has joined the cast of DOOL and will be portraying the role of Valerie Grant. Vanessa stated on October 3 on Instagram, “#VanessaWilliams joins the cast of #daysofourlives @nbcdays @nbctv Don’t miss your girl back in #primetime Thanks for all the Love and support! #moretocome.” This is indeed exciting news for many Days of our Lives fans. Many responded on her Instagram account with excitement and sent her warm wishes and big congratulations.

The character of Valerie Grant was last seen on screen back in July of 1982 when she was seen leaving town. Days of our Lives brought the character onboard in 1976-1977 and she was involved in the storyline which involved David Banning and Valerie Grant (Richard Guthrie and Tina Andrews). Unfortuntely, the producers of the longtime soap decided against the story after receiving some tough reviews and negative comments. Some internet reports claim that Tina Andrews, who portrayed the role of Valerie Grant at that time, received many death threats about this storyline.

Just to give you a bit of history about the previous storyline, David Banning was the son of Days of our Lives character, Julie Williams. Dr Tom Horton convinced Julie to put David up for adoption after the tragic death of his father who was David Martin. The two later fell in love and were engaged after her family took care of him medically following a horrible car crash.

Later, David cheated on Valerie with Trish Clayton which ultimately lead to her departure in 1982. Hopefully with Vanessa Williams to pick up this role after many years has past, she will bring controversy and suspense to the character and there’s no telling who and what Valerie Grant will be up to when she returns to the city of Salem.

According to a Facebook post, there was some confusion in regards to which actress will portray this role since there are two actress’ with the same name. A post from Jason 47’s Facebook states “For those who don’t know, there are two actresses who are billed as Vanessa Williams. So there’s no confusion, the former Miss America/singer is NOT joining “Days.” This Vanessa Williams is different. The one joining “Days” most recently had a recurring role on “The Flash” last year.” There is no official word yet on her first airdate but Soap Opera Spy will bring that to you as soon as we receive further information.
