‘Days Of Our Lives’ News: Summer Townsend Exits Salem – Marie Wilson Shares ‘DOOL’ Goodbye Message

‘Days of Our Lives’ spoilers indicate that we are about to see the last of Summer Townsend. Marie Wilson, who plays the role, is set to make her final appearance on Friday July 29. Soap Opera Digest recently released their latest magazine issue and revealed that Marie Wilson’s last airdate is set for July 29. “Here it is…..July 29th, 2016….Summer’s last air date. Thank you @nbcdays @greg_meng @aalarr and everyone!!! XOXO” Wilson tweeted about her exit.

Wilson made her first appearance as Summer on February 5, 2016. This was after she was originally tapped for the role of Bree Tjaden which was a brief appearance. Days’ producer definitely saw something in the actress and they brought her back just months after to play another character by the name of Summer.

While Marie was given some meaty material that should have resonated well with viewers, it seems it wasn’t doing well and Days’ show runners decided to let her go, along with three co-stars; Sal Stowers [Ex-Lani], Brandon Beemer [Shawn], Martha Madison [Belle]. Wilson is second of the four to exit the NBC serial, with Stowers being the first and next in line is Madison, who is scheduled to last air in September.

Summer was believed to be the one who kidnapped Tate, however she has proven herself to be innocent. Summer and Theresa [Jen Lilley] had an ugly confrontation and she decided to pack her stuff and leave Salem again. Before she could leave, she runs into her mother Maggie in the park and they have a heart to heart talk.

Wilson is a well established daytime player. She has played Karen Wexler on ‘Port Charles’, Karen Wexler on ‘General Hospital’, Meg Snyder on ‘As the World Turns’and her latest being that of two ‘Days’ roles.
