Patsy Pease portrayed Kimberly Brady Donovan off-and-on for 21 years on “Days of Our Lives.” Pease recently began a blog and shared her story of battling bipolar disorder. What Patsy has been through is quite incredible and the actress holds nothing back in the first post entitled “Recovery from Shame.”
It takes an abundance of courage to share such a personal story, but Pease found the strength to share her it in hopes that even one person could be helped. Though Patsy wasn’t diagnosed properly until after her 50th birthday, the behaviors the actress exhibited and the emotional pain Pease suffered went undiagnosed for most of her life.

When you look at Patsy Pease you see an All-American beauty and you would never guess the shocking information she shares in the “Recovery from Shame” blog post. Patsy’s bipolar diagnosis didn’t come until after a series of embarrassing incidents that culminated in the correct diagnosis.
Among the things that happened to Patsy – she was arrested for hitting a man in the head with a mop. She spent five days – and four very scary nights in a Van Nuys jail, Patsy writes. She had been sober for 21 years and had spent time volunteering in recovery homes.
Perhaps the most troubling behavior was Patsy posting nude pictures of herself all over the Internet. As Pease describes she “met men with cameras, disrobed, took nude pictures and had unprotected sex.” For years Patsy’s doctors told her she had major depressive disorder, that she was “slightly moody” and “high strung.” A psychiatrist dared to tell Patsy it was her profession was to blame rather than her disorder.

Thankfully Patsy is on the road to recovery and has healthy outlook on life. Patsy Pease ends her first blog post with “God looks after fools, drunkards and children. I’d like to add…’and the mentally ill too…I’m living proof.” Indeed Patsy is proof that God has watched over her. She’s back to acting – you can catch her on “The Bay” web series as Lola Baker. And Patsy is writing her truth through her blog. We hope that the “Recovery from Shame” is just the first of many posts. We look forward to sharing the positive healing messages Patsy Pease has to share.
