‘Days Of Our Lives’ rumors of a possible cancellation have been floating around for months – putting DOOL fans in a panic that their beloved soap opera might be pulled from NBC. It’s no secret that the daytime drama has struggled with ratings for quite a while. Despite whispers of a cancellation – NBC entertainment president Jennifer Salke is optimistic that the show will go on.
Salke recently sat down with TV Line to discuss the future of ‘Days Of Our Lives‘ – and she had nothing but positive things to say. According to Salke, the odds of ‘DOOL‘ being cancelled in 2016 are slim, and she is happy with the direction that the new writing regime is taking the daytime drama. Overall, the network is optimistic of a renewal.

Jennifer Salke dished to TV Line, “We’ve been really happy with the show. I’ve been over there seeing Ken [Corday, executive producer] and the team and the new writers. They’re an incredible group and we love the show. They got a [ratings] bump in the fall for their 50th anniversary. There’s a creative resurgence and exciting storytelling going on right now.”
Just this month ‘Days’ marked another major milestone and brought in the most viewers the daytime drama has seen in over two years! Salke went on to explain to TV Line that NBC is optimistic about the soap opera – now everything is up to SONY, who they will be negotiating terms with very soon. In the mean time, as long as the soap’s ratings continue to rise, there shouldn’t be any issues.

Days has been a favorite of mine for years. I refuse to watch another talk, chew, view or any other show any network puts on. Talk shows are always the same, boring. People need to be able to sit and get lost in a program. We can do that with Days. Please do not cancel this program. People need these types of programs. And stop killing off the people who have been a part of our life’s for a hour a day 5 days a week for 50 years.
Been watching days for 50 years and don’t want another food food or talk show on…these r get away from reality and they r fun to get list in
So tired of cooking, food and talk channels.
I have watched Days of our lives since it started if they take I off I will be devistated.we don’t need any more talk show or reality show
I am thrilled with the news that Days will continue to entertain us. Thank you to those in charge.
Also will be devastated if they remove DOOL!! Have not missed a show in years. Please keep it going!!
Never really watched it, but it would be criminal if a show of that longevity got the ax.
