The trailer for ‘Queen Sugar’ was released exclusively to Entertainment Weekly. The new drama, based on the book by Natalie Baszile, was created by filmmaker Ava DuVernay and executive producer Oprah Winfrey. The primetime drama revolves around the Bordelon family.
The series follows the life of two sisters, Nova Bordelon and Charley Bordelon, are forced to move to the heart of Louisiana in order to claim an inheritance of an 800-acre sugarcane farm after the sudden death of the family’s patriarch.
In addition to Greg Vaughan the cast includes Rutina Wesley as Nova, Dawn-Lyen Gardner as Charley, Kofi Siriboe as Ralph Angel.
Nova, the eldest sister, is a community activist who has taken on the task of keeping the family together. Charley is the glamorous and sophisticated wife of a basketball superstar. Charley returns home after a scandal disrupts what appears to the rest of the world to be a perfect life.
Ralph Angel is the Bordelon family’s troubled younger brother who has recently been released from prison. Ralph Angel is determined to find employment and do right by his young son.
In the trailer for ‘Queen Sugar’ Greg Vaughan, as Calvin, is seen interacting with Nova. “You could have given me a heads up that you were going to write an article taking down the entire police department,” an angry Calvin says to Nova.
‘Days of Our Lives’ fans can catch the two-night series premiere event on OWN Network Tuesday, September 6 and Wednesday, September 7. There are 13 episodes in the first season of ‘Queen Sugar.’
