‘Days of Our Lives’ News: Days Alum Greg Vaughan Spotted At Table Read For New Series “Queen Sugar”

Days-Greg-vaughanGreg Vaughan, who played Eric Brady on “Days of Our Lives” (Days), was spotted at a table read for a new series set to premiere on Oprah Winfrey’s OWN network according to Facebook Group, Soap Fan’s United.

The announcement that Vaughan would leave “DOOL” he had called home since 2012 met with surprise and disappointment from many “DOOL” watchers. His character killed his good friend, Daniel Jonas, in a drunk driving accident last month. That sent Brady into a personal hell that had fans reaching for the tissues every time he came on the screen, with his devastating portrayal of a soul in torment.

Some speculated from a cryptic Tweet by Vaughan in which he referred to himself as “LUCKY,” as a veiled hint that he would be reprising his role as Lucky on General Hospital, whom he played from 2003 to 2009.

But the spotting of Vaughan at preparations for a television series adaption of the novel, “Queen Sugar,” by Natalie Baszile has tongues wagging about him potentially taking on a role there.

In a recent issue of Soap Opera Digest (SOD), Arianne Zucker made a bittersweet acknowledgement that she, Vaughan, and their fans, will never get to see “their happily ever after.” This re-pairing of the erstwhile couple would have been especially poignant as a partial redemption of Vaughan’s character, given that Zucker’s Days character, Nicole Walker, was fiancée to Daniel. “But Greg wanted to make a change, “ Zucker told SOD. “He had good reasons for moving forward in his life to do other things.”

Baszile’s novel tells of a single mother who moves from LA to Louisiana to run a sugar cane farm that she inherits, drastically altering her life and that of her daughter’s. No word on what role Vaughan might play in this television adaption of it.
