Daniel Cosgrove (Aiden) took a few moments to speak with Soaps.com about his character and foretold his frustrations over how his character turned out, and also dished on what he wished could have happened for the character.
“When I first came on, I knew I wasn’t coming on in a front burner and hot story and that it was going to be slow, and that was fine,” Cosgrove told Soaps.com. “But my hope was over time they would spread the character out and it would evolve, but it didn’t really happen.” Part of the problem may have been what was going on behind the scenes, as Cosgrove notes, “I was on the show for a little over two years, and I will say there were three and a half different writing regimes.”
Cosgrove further added in the interview how he had his own ideas as to how the character of Aiden Jennings would have been done differently. Cosgrove continued “I wish that Aiden would have come on and told John that Bo was dead, and we worked together on that. Or that Bo already died off camera, and he [Aiden] was filling in the blanks for Hope as she hadn’t seen him for awhile, and that I was using it [Bo’s death] to get close to Hope. That would have caused suspicion and questions about ‘who is this guy.'” However, as it was, he felt, “There was no story… there was the galas and the bake sales and nothing to sink your teeth into.”
Much to many viewers shock, DOOL decided to kill off Aiden Jennings after only months after he reappeared in Salem. Daniel Cosgrove himself was even shocked to be brought back on the show and then killed off.
Just like with any other soap, just because a character is killed off doesn’t mean they can’t be brought back. Remember dead is never dead in the Soap world it is just dead for now!
In the meantime, Cosgrove also dished how he is currently been busy working on a new film called ‘Project Dad.” Cosgrove described this new project as a ‘docuseries’ and exclaimed “I’m very excited about it!. No doubt we are too!
We can’t wait to see Cosgrove back in front of the camera once again! We here at Soap Opera Spy congratulate Daniel Cosgrove and wish him nothing but the best as he moves forward with his new project which is set to premiere this Tuesday, November 1, on Discovery Life and again on TLC on January 5, 2017.
