The casting call highlighted that Days is seeking an African-American actress who is in her mid-50s to take on the role of Valerie. The character is said to be a gorgeous one, and was played by three different actresses while in existence on the Salem canvas.
Being the first actress to play the role, fans took to Andrews with several questions after the call was posted. Fans were questioning the actress about her returning to ‘Days of Our Lives’ and she responded “No I have not been approached. I would not mind it, though.” So it’s clear the actress would love to reprise the role if the show decides to consider her for it. And with her not being so busy, now would be the perfect time.
Andrews played the role of Dr. Val from 1975 to 1977. This character is part of one of the first interracial romances that was ever shown on daytime television. While she has played this role on Days, she also played the role of Aurelia on the influential TV mini-series called Roots that existed in 1977. Aurelia was the girlfriend of the popular character named Kunta Kinte.
