44th Daytime Emmy Awards Date Set & Changes Announced – Good News For Soaps

Good news soap fans, it’s time to save the date for the 44th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards show! Be sure to block off April 30th, 2017 as the day that your favorite daytime performers get the recognition they deserve.

The upcoming Emmy Awards show will feature all of the usual categories, but The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences promises some changes that will be sure to elevate the viewer’s enjoyment.

In the past, musical performance awards were limited to morning programs and talk shows. But according to CBS Soaps In Depth, the category has been expanded to include performances from any daytime program.

What does this mean for your favorite soaps? For starters, GH fans will be happy to know that the change means that musical numbers from the Nurse’s Ball are now eligible for Emmy awards.

That is awesome news, considering all of the hard work that the GH actors put into the annual Nurse’s Ball numbers and routines. Won’t it be nice to see these special performances be recognized by the Academy?

Fans have been treated to some spectacular Nurse’s Ball musical numbers through years. Do you think that the possibility of winning an Emmy award for such a performance will elevate the performance quality even more? Be still my heart!

Next year there will also be changes to how digital drama performances are recognized. Starting in 2017, both Lead Actor and Lead Actress awards will be given out, as will Outstanding Supporting or Guest Actor and Actress.

If you want to get in on the pre-nomination action, be sure to circle January 25, 2017 on your calendar; that’s the day that pre-noms will be announced.

Two months later, on March 22, 2017, the final nominations will be announced.
