Weekly Soap Ratings September 28-October 2: B&B, Y&R, DOOL Up – GH Stable

The soap opera ratings are in; all four main soap operas experienced a pretty good week, overall. After a few terrible weeks for “Young and the Restless” and “General Hospital,” it looks they finally rebounded their ratings. “Days of Our Lives” had another good week, the third one in a row. Let’s examine the rating to see how your favorite stacked up for the week of September 28- October 2.

Young and the Restless

“Young and the Restless” is one of the most watched soap operas on today. This week, the hit daytime drama saw an increase of 213,000 total viewers and 28,000 from last year. It’s not surprising considering that Gabriel Bingham (Justin Hartley) was revealed as Adam Newman on October 2. In the key demo of women 18-34, “Y&R” saw an increase of 38,000 people. And that’s not all; in the demo of 25-54- there was an increase of 63,000 viewers. The soap opera had over four million viewers tune in every single day. It was a good week overall for “The Young and the Restless.”

Bold and the Beautiful

“Bold and the Beautiful” had a pretty good week, as well. The show had a shocking 178,000 total viewer increase from the previous week. And in the key demos, they had at least a 44,000 viewer increase. The soap had nearly three million people tune in every single day, not too shabby for a 30-minute time slot.

General Hospital

“General hospital” had an OK week- not particularly great or bad. The ratings were stable and steady, which at this point is a great thing. That is partly due to the writers dragging out the Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) reveal. The ABC soap had an increase of 7,000 viewers this week; however, they lost over 200,000 since last years. In the key demos, the viewers decreased at least 10,000 people. “GH” had about two million people tuning in every single day, but fans have been extremely vocal in that they want to see Jake find out that he is really Jason Morgan. Can the shocking reveal save the ratings? Time will tell- as the reveal will happen in the coming weeks.

Days of Our Lives

“Days of Our Lives” had another great week, the third one in a row. The show saw an increase of almost 90,000 viewers overall. In the demo of 18-34, the soap had an increase of 7,000 viewers; however, in the 25-54 key demo, they saw a huge dip in ratings. Nearly three million viewers tuned in each day to see what happened next in Salem. Overall, the ratings were a great week considering this marks month seven of a steady increase in viewership.
