Weekly Soap Ratings September 14-18, 2015: ‘Days’ And ‘Y&R’ Down In Key Demos

The soap ratings are in for the week of September 14-18, according to Soap Opera Digest. It looks like “Bold and the Beautiful” had a great week. “General Hospital” rating held strong- gaining more viewership. “Days of Our Lives” and “Y&R” had a bad week, losing in every key demo. Let’s examine the ratings further so you can see how your favorite soap did.

Young and the Restless

“Young and the Restless” lost almost 50,000 total viewers this week; however, when cared to last year, it wasn’t nearly as many viewers – only 19,000 viewers. In the key women 18-49 demo, the hit daytime drama tied for the lowest rating. In every demo, “Y&R” lost viewers. The fact remains, over three million people tuned in to watch the happenings in Genoa City each and every day.

Days of Our Lives

Soap fans have stated the “Days” is the best soap on TV right now. They have strong storylines matched with a superior writing team. Even still, the NBC daytime drama is falling short on the soap ratings. They tied for the low for the week in the key demos.

General Hospital

At first glance, it looks like “General Hospital” was down in the ratings this week after a three-week increase. The ABC soap increased the viewers by 13,000 in the key demo of women ages 18-49. And, that’s not all, the women 18-34 demo saw a huge gain too. It looks like fans are finally watching “GH” regularly again.

Bold and the Beautiful

“Bold and the Beautiful” was the star of the week. In EVERY demo, the show saw huge gains. If that’s not impressive on its own, they outshined “Days” and “GH,” which are hour-long soaps. The CBS 30-minute soap opera had at least three million people tuning in each day, beating “Y&R” three out of five days during the week.

It looks like all four soaps had some good news with the latest ratings. “B&B” had an impressive week. “GH” is still increasing their viewership each week. “Y&R” looks to be flat lined in ratings, but they maintained three to five million viewers each day. All in all, it was a great week for all four major daytime dramas. Check back next week to see how your favorite soap stacked to the competition.
