Weekly Soap Ratings December 7 – 11: ‘General Hospital’ Down, Losing Viewers – ‘DOOL,’ ‘B&B,’ ‘Y&R’ Steady

Soap Opera Network published the ratings for the week of December 7-11. “General Hospital” lost big this week, with a loss of nearly 200,000 viewers this week. The other soap operas, “Days of Our Lives,” “The Young and the Restless,” and “B&B” did well in the key demographics. Soap Opera Spy examines the rating report, below.

B&B

“B&B” had rough couple months, struggling to remain their audience after a terrible November sweep rollout. It appears the storylines have improved greatly. “B&B” total viewers for the week’s average was just over three million, with an increase of 65K. In the key demo, the soap opera gained 34K viewers.

DAYS

“Days of Our Lives” had a great week this week. They averaged over two and a half million viewers, with an increase of 81k this week, and 90K from last year. In the key demo, “DAYS” saw an increase of 23K viewers—which is a significant increase.

Y&R

“The Young and the Restless” announced they were one week away from being the most watched soap opera on the air for 27 years in a row. This week, “Y&R” had an audience increase of 65K and 28K from last year. In the key demo, the CBS soap opera lost 3K viewers this week, but an increase 13K from last year. They have nearly five million people tune in each day.

GH

“GH” had a terrible week again, losing over 171K viewers this week, and 390K from last year. The soap opera’s total viewers came in at two and half million viewers per day. In the key demos, the ABC soap lost 42K viewers this week and 162K since last year. “General Hospital” low ratings this week is concerning, as it has been several weeks now with a dip in their ratings.
