The soap opera ratings are in for August 17-21, 2015 for “Young and the Restless,” “Days of Our Lives,” General Hospital,” and “Bold and the Beautiful.” All soaps but “GH” saw a jump in total viewers. In fact, “General Hospital” ratings are quite concerning because it is the three week in a row the ratings are low- and ranked in at all-time-new-low, according to Soap Opera Digest.
“Young and the Restless” lost 62,000 total viewers this week, but gained almost 300,000 viewers from last year. “Y&R” is up almost 3 points in all households. In the women 18-49 bracket, the show was up to 56,000 viewers or .08 Neilson’s rating. It looks like “Y&R” had a descent week- all in all. It looks like each day during the week, “Y&R” had at least three million total viewers per day.
“Bold and the Beautiful” lost an 188,000 total viewer this week; however, is up almost 130,000 compared to last year. The household rating, “B&B” is down .04, but up to .06 from last year. In the women 18-49 year’s bracket, “B&B” is up to 14,000 viewers or .02 in Neilson’s rating. “B&B” had a steady amount of views each day, averaging two and half million per day in total viewers.
“Days of Our Lives” lost 37,000 total viewers over the week, and 1,000 gain from last year. In the women 18-49 viewers, “Days” came out winning with a gain of 20,000 or .03 rating overall. The average total viewer per day was a smudge over two million. “Days” is holding fast at their average rating for the week.
“General Hospital” is the one that is struggling to maintain their ratings. In total views, they lost 67,000, but over 200,000 from last year. In the 18-49 women viewers, the rankings were 24,000 or 243,000 from last year. It is at an all-time low this week. Each day, approximately two million people tune in and watch the show.
It looks like “Y&R,” “Days,” and “B&B” are doing well with their ratings. They are either slowly increasing or staying steady. “GH” ratings are decreasing each week. The show better find a solution to the cause of low ratings or “GH” could face cancellation at some point.
