“The Young and the Restless” recently revealed that Gabriel Bingham’s true identity is none other than Adam Newman (Justin Hartley). The news was shocking to most all who heard the tale about how Sage (Kelly Sullivan) helped him claim another identity. Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) faced the biggest backlash for his role in concealing Adam’s identity from his wife and family. Will Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Burgess Jenkins) put their personal feelings aside and forgive Jack? Is Jack still loyal to Adam after all the heartache?

Jack proved himself loyal to Adam for months. He thought he was protecting Billy in keeping the secret of Adam being alive, but in actuality it did much more harm than good. Jack thought that if Billy found out that Adam was alive he’d try to kill him (again) and end up spending the rest of his life in prison. And, he was partly right. When Billy found out that Adam was alive and walking among him in Genoa City, he was out for blood. Then there’s the little secret Adam told him about Billy shooting him in the car that night everyone thought he was dead. Jack’s heart was in the right place, he just handled it wrongly.
Jack didn’t have to lie to Phyllis all those months. How could he tell her that he was helping Adam after all the hurt Adam caused? When Adam came to Jack and asked for help, Phyllis had just arrived in Genoa City after waking up from a yearlong coma. He didn’t want to tell her anything that could possibly upset or confuse her. It is clear, he didn’t mean to hurt her in the process- Jack loves Red. Maybe he just didn’t think about her feelings on the matter.

Jack has felt a sense of loyalty to Adam for some time. Adam has never had it easy being the one child Victor never accepted. His siblings have hated his existence since the first day he arrived in town. It doesn’t make sense to why he is hated so much considering they accepted Abby (Melissa Ordway) as a sister with open arms. Jack felt like Adam was someone he could talk to- go to when in trouble. They are unlikely pals but still nonetheless, they are a duo. Will Jack desert him now that Adam was exposed? Whose side is Jack on Billy or Adam? Is it possible that Jack understands that Delia’s death was just an accident and it wasn’t all Adam’s fault?
