A recent “Young and the Restless” red carpet interview gave Y&R fans a hint of what lies ahead on the CBS soap. Peter Bergman, who plays Jack on “The Young and the Restless,” dished on what’s next for his character and even took a look back on the past. This marks Bergman’s 25th year on the show and Jack’s been stirring up more trouble than ever. Of course, most of that trouble comes courtesy of Jack’s doppelganger, Marco (also played by Peter Bergman).
Many viewers have been pleased to see Bergman get the chance to flex his acting chops with a villain like Marco. The rumors say that the drama with Marco is far from over. However, we can’t forget about all the years Bergman has spent playing Jack Abbott. When asked to give a brief overview of his time on the show, Bergman said “I haven’t killed anybody. I married six times, one of them twice…I’m not really one of the outrageous ones.” The interviewer quickly replied, “Not yet!”
Jack has been facing dilemma after dilemma recently, but a longtime soap vet like Bergman is probably used to that by now. “It’s 25 years now for me on ‘The Young and the Restless’ so yeah, that’s a longer run that anyone else you’re going to meet here,” Bergman said. That’s a big deal in the soap world. Any soap actor or actress will tell you that it’s a risky business when characters can easily get killed off or recast. Fortunately, Bergman has stood the test of time and has managed to make Jack the steady anchor of the Abbott clan.
We’ve talked about Jack’s past, but what about his future? It sounds like things are about to get pretty intense as we head into fall. Bergman said, “Well, for our show Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Jack have been through all kinds of crazy stuff and there’s more crazy stuff to follow because of the Marco thing. And you know what I’m talking about!” It’s safe to say Y&R viewers know EXACTLY what Bergman is referring to. Marco is definitely bad news. Stick with “The Young and the Restless” for updates on all the chaos Marco will continue to cause.
