‘The Young and The Restless’ (Y&R): Forced Couples Fail – Do Sage and Nick Lack Romantic Chemistry – What About Sharon and Dylan?

“The Young and the Restless” fans are sick and tired of the writers forcing a relationship between two people without giving the viewers a chance to warm up to them. At the time, it seems like almost all the relationships on the show except Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam (Justin Hartley) and Victor (Eric Braeden) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) are completely forced. How do you feel about the forced couples?
Sage (Kelly Sullivan) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) are the number-one couple for whom fans complain about the forced interaction. The couple seems to utter that they love each other every chance they get, but they lack chemistry between them. Nick has a history of being the hero to save a damsel in distress Fans were convinced that was the basis of his connection to Sage. He felt he SAVED her from Gabriel. Boy, will he kick himself when he learns her dark secret?
Sharon (Sharon Case) and Dylan (Steve Burton) were better friends than a couple. They forced them together after Jessica Collins announced she was leaving the show – and Avery would leave town. Dylan and Sharon have plenty of fans; however, many fans complain their union sparks any real romance.
Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Stitch (Sean Carrigan) lack any romance between them. It seems unnatural and very much forced. A few weeks ago, it looked like they were going to break up, and fans were excited. They thought maybe Y&R would pair him with Ashley – who he has a spark with on screen. They fell flat on that one, and they reconciled.
Fans of the show aren’t sure the new head scribe can write a compelling romance on the show. Chuck Pratt Jr. seems not to understand how to build a characters’ love stories. He throws characters together and prays that the fans embrace them. If not, he just writes a terrible breakup and cashes in on the drama from the fallout.
It would be nice if the show would for once wrote an amazing love story, one that made fans tune in just to see how it turned out. What couples do you think the writers are forcing on fans? Do you like Sage and Nick together? Do you think Dylan and Sharon have any on-screen chemistry?

I’m not as bothered by Nick and Sage as I am by Sharon and Dylan. The show spent over two years – really from the first time Dylan rolled into town – building up Avery and Dylan, even creating a filmed backstory of the two’s past relationship and his military experience. In the blink of an eye, following Jessica Collins’s decision to leave the show following the disastrous rape storyline, they trashed that relationship and IMMEDIATELY threw Sharon on him. They can have Dylan state contrived and ret-conned dialogue about how he and Sharon were already good friends from the beginning, but that’s just not the case. We know they were good acquaintances, but their “friendship” didn’t have the same gravitas that Phyllis’s and Michael’s long time relationship, or those of Lauren and Paul or Jack and Nikki, and even his friendship following their divorce.
The writers can’t have JFP’s leading man (as if!) declare his undying love, devotion and loyalty to “The Love of His Life” and “The Reason I’m Alive Today”, to Avery, then having him hop in the sack with Sharon and as quick as a rabbit, impregnate her, and then try to convince the viewers that this guy has any credibility at all. His brand of love, loyalty and devotion are about as durable as his half-brother Nick’s. Don’t count on it, Sharon.
Furthermore, Sharon and Dylan have no chemistry. She’s doing her best, but Steve Burton just doesn’t have the acting chops or the sexual chemistry to sell him as a romantic lead. Good friend material? Yes. Sexy leading man? Not on your life.
I like Dylan and Sharon together .I wish the writers would not have her be off her meds all the time. Like Nikki and her drinking. Nick and Sage? I just don’t see it going anywhere but I doNOT want Sharon to be with him again. . Abby and Stitch? nope cant see it. Now Ashley and Stitch yes .I like that Lauren and Michael are making their way back to each other
Dylans comes alive with Sharon ,avery had no chemistry with Dylan Joe or Nick, she was a bore ,glad she is gone ,Chuck was right SHE WAS A FAIL WITH DYLAN ,IT WASN’T B/C SHE ANNOUCED SHE WAS LEAVING ,THAT CP PUT SHARON AND DYLAN TOGETHER .HE PUT SHARON AND DYLAN TOGETHER B/C THEY DO HAVE CHEMISTRY ,EVEN IF AVERY HADN’T LEFT .IT WOULD BE SHYLAN,and I LIKE SAGE AND NICK ,NICK BETTER FORGIVE SAGE FOR SAVING ADAM’S LIFE AND KEEPING HIM FROM GOING TO JAIL ,WHERE HE WOULD ONLY HAVE HAD THE BARE MINOMIN PLASTIC SURGERY IN PRISON,B/C SHE DID THAT ,WOULD PROBABLY BE THE ONLY REASON HE WOULDN’T FORGIVE HER ,B/C HES HATED ADAM SENCE ADAM WAS BORN…SHARON IS BETTER OFF WITH DYLAN ,I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO THEIR MYSTERY S/L.AND I HOPE NICK FINALLY SMARTENS UP.HE IS GOOD WITH SAGE AND THEIR CHILD ,WITH THE 4 OF THEM ,FAITH SHOULD HAVE WONDERFULPARENTS,
OK her is my opinion and I am sure a lot of you will not agree!!!
Sage and Nick, hell no! She is the one driving the car the night Delia was supposedly killed(I think she is alive). So when the truth comes out there will be no more Nick and Sage.
Nick belongs with Sharon, no one understands her more than Nick!
Sharon & Dylan, not going to last, however I was a fan of them when they first got together. When the truth comes out she lost the baby she will have a melt down and return to the institution and that’s where Nick will find his way back to her. I feel for Dylan I like him a lot, but they need to find someone else for him. Who? I dont know yet.
Mariah and Kevin have my vote!
Marissa and Noah, hmmm, she has secrets as well and when they come out I am sure Noah will kick her to the curb
Phyllis and Jack, I see trouble brewing in the future, I thought she was going to end up pregnant by Marco.
Stitch and Abby, another hell no but him with Ashley, no way, I think Ashley is going to end up with Joe
Paul and Christine, hell no she is a winey bitch and everything has to go her way she needs to go maybe to the institution .
Adam and Chelsea, they need to reveal he is Adam, the truth come out about Delia and Chloe come back with Dellia
Nikki & Victor they need to always be together
Jill & Colin they make a good couple
Lauren & Michael need to get back together
Cain & Lilly stay together
Hillary and Devon not sure if I like them together
And Neil with Gwen if he comes out of this mess he is in
And Esther needs a love interest
If I have left anyone out….sorry
Sharon and Dylan are good with each other I like them as a couple. Nick and Sage I say no.
