“The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease that Adam Newman [Justin Hartley] will partner up with his father, Victor Newman [Eric Braeden] in hopes to drive Jabot out of business. Victor told Adam that he needed him to work with him; Adam thought that meant he wanted help to stop Paragon virus. As it turns out, Victor has something else in mind- he wants Adam to help to drive Jabot out of business.
Victor and Adam have a very complicated relationship. They love each other, but there is always something getting in the way of them having a healthy father/son relationship. Victor often feels disappointed in Adam’s impulsive behavior. Adam cannot trust Victor- he seems to want him around when he needs something.

Ian Ward [Ray Wise] said it best on Tuesday’s episode. He said, “Adam is smarter than the rest of your kids combined. He has the gumption to go after you, and he will never back down.” Ian was correct; Adam is intelligent, hard-working, and brave. Victor realized he is not the best enemy to have, and brought him on his side.
Victor called Adam after Ian was arrested and told him he wanted him to join him at Newman Enterprises, so they can take Jabot from the Abbott’s. Adam didn’t look happy about this arrangement. He told Chelsea that here’s the part where he will pay for his freedom heavily with his father’s love. He knows what his father wants him to do; Adam will have to go against Jack Abbott [Peter Bergman] and take Jabot from his family, resulting in destroying Jack’s life work.

Adam told Victor before he cannot go against Jack. He revealed that Jack had been there for him when no one else would. He told him his relationship with Jack is off limits; he cannot betray him. Victor didn’t seem to hear him because not even a month later, and he’s asking his son to betray the one person that has been good to him- even when the whole city wanted to throw him in jail and throw away the key.
It seems unlikely that Adam would go against Jack, but he could be forced into it. He knows that his father has the power to send him away to jail if he doesn’t cooperate with him. Will Victor talk Adam into betraying Jack?
