‘The Young and the Restless’ Spoilers: Phyllis Tricks Jack – Ashley’s Ideas Create Suspicion – Gwen Fired From Jabot, Demands Neil’s Help

“The Young and the Restless” spoilers for Monday, December 21, tease that several Genoa City residents will try to focus on the future. At the athletic club, Jack (Peter Bergman) gives Gwen (Nadine Nicole) some bad news. The lawsuit has prompted some budget cuts and that means Gwen is being let go. Jack says he’ll rehire Gwen as soon as he can and she understands.

Jack, Kyle (Lachlan Buchanan), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Summer (Hunter King) sit down for breakfast together. Summer is a little hungover after partying for her birthday. They talk about Billy’s (Burgess Jenkins) latest outburst at The Underground. Later, Summer opens up to Kyle about how she didn’t have a clue when she married Austin (Matthew Atkinson). Kyle says he wants to support his dad, but he’s not sure about devoting his life to cosmetics.

Gwen asks Devon (Bryton James) about the possibility of overseeing the financial part of Dr. Neville’s (Michael E. Knight) research. Devon is surprised by Gwen’s job request. After all, Gwen played a big role in hiding Hilary (Mishael Morgan). They discuss the fact that Hilary is still in love with Neil (Kristoff St. John). Meanwhile, Neil tells Hilary he’s not happy about how she used Devon to buy Dr. Neville’s silence. Hilary wants to talk about their kiss, not Devon.

At Crimson Lights, Ashley (Eileen Davidson) speaks with someone on the phone and indicates that her family will be kept in the dark. Ashley is doing things her way. A few moments later, Ashley questions Dr. Neville about the legitimacy of his work. Dr. Neville maintains that he knows what he’s doing and Ashley’s reputation will be safe. They talk about where they’re going to do their research. Ashley calls Jack and sets up at meeting.

Ashley introduces Dr. Neville to Jack at Jabot. Jack is perplexed by their partnership. This is the same man who was hiding Hilary. Dr. Neville defends himself and claims he saved her. Ashley says Jabot can generate income by renting out some lab space. Jack still isn’t sure, but Ashley persists. Jack speaks with Ashley privately and wonders what’s really going on. Ashley snaps that she just wants Jack to make the deal.

After her discussion with Jack, Ashley gets a horrible headache and takes some medication. Back at the athletic club, Devon tells Hilary about his chat with Gwen. He says he’s leaving the decision up to Neil. At the park, Gwen tells Neil about her desire to work on Dr. Neville’s project. She reminds Neil that he owes her.

Jack finds Neil and asks what he thinks about Dr. Neville. Neil admits he can’t argue with results. He vows to keep an eye on Ashley and make sure Dr. Neville doesn’t pull anything. Dr. Neville meets up with Neil. They bicker over control of the project. Hilary shows up and insists on being a part of the research. They all grab a few glasses of champagne and toast to their new venture.

Other “Young and the Restless” spoilers reveal that Phyllis will pay Billy a visit. Billy wonders what Phyllis is doing there and she replies, “Redemption.” Phyllis continues by explaining that Jack needs some redeeming. Billy also needs to get his act together and stop his pity party. Phyllis insists that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) still loves Billy and she brings out the best in him. Phyllis hopes to bring the Abbotts together for Christmas if they can do it without killing each other.

At the Abbott cabin, Jack arrives to see Phyllis. She claims she invited the whole family for a Christmas celebration, but Billy was the only one without plans. Billy walks in with some firewood and Jack shouts that Phyllis set him up. Y&R rumors hint that Phyllis might be able to make some progress with these feuding brothers.
