“The Young and the Restless” spoilers tease that we haven’t see the last of John Abbott (Jerry Douglas). If you’ve been missing John around Genoa City, you’re in luck. Soaps in Depth is reporting that Jerry Douglas will make an appearance as an apparition on Tuesday, March 24. Y&R viewers know that John passed away in 2007, but he’s returned a few times to give a bit of ghostly guidance to Jack (Peter Bergman) and Billy (Burgess Jenkins). There’s no word yet on why John will pop in, but you can bet he’ll be giving more fatherly advice from beyond the grave. “The Young and the Restless” fans will be anxious to see what John will feel the need to step in and help with. Whatever it is, it looks like John will continue to keep a watchful eye on the Abbott brood.
“The Young and the Restless” isn’t the only daytime drama that has a vet returning. “Days of Our Lives” recently announced that Peter Reckell and Stephen Nichols would be reprising their roles as Bo and “Patch” for the 50th anniversary of the NBC soap. There have even been rumors that Susan Flannery could make an appearance as Stephanie Forrester on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” So far, producers have said they’re happy with how Flannery bowed out, but it would be a nice twist if her character came back as a ghost. After all that’s happened on B&B lately, there are more than a few characters that could use Stephanie’s advice.
It seems like all of the major soaps are doing whatever it takes to get their vets back in action. Many fans have complained about the focus on all the newbies and their lackluster storylines. While most of their stints seem to be short, at least viewers will get a taste of some familiar faces. We’ll give you updates if any more soap veterans make plans to return.
So Y&R fans, what do you think about the news that Jerry Douglas will make an appearance on “The Young and the Restless”? What will bring John’s apparition around this time? How do you feel about all the soap vets popping back up? Are you glad you’ll be seeing them on your screen once again?
