“The Young and the Restless” alum, David Lago hints at a possible return of Raul Gutierrez. If you do not remember him, that would be because it was a long time ago [early 2000]. Raul’s return could shake up many storylines on the show, when you consider his departure from Genoa City in 2009 was because of a falling out with his childhood best friend, Billy Abbott [Burgess Jenkins]. Would you embrace Raul if he returns on canvas?
David Lago teased to CBS Soaps in Depth he would love to return as Raul if the opportunity presented itself at the right time. He noted that TPTB had asked him several times if he was open to a return since 2009; however, there were no concrete offer on the table yet. The Emmy award-winning actor would love to come back to “Y&R” as a changed man.

In 2009, he left the Genoa City after Billy Abbott was angry about his relationship with Mackenzie [Kelly Kruger]. David explained that Raul was ‘all too perfect and never did anything wrong.’ David hopes if he gets the opportunity to return they would age Raul, and have him embrace more of a bad boy image. He would love to be ‘rough around the edges.’ “It would be amazing if he came back having changed—he wouldn’t have to be a bad guy, exactly, but maybe just not so Prince Charming,” David explained.
If “Y&R” never calls the talented actor, Lago said he has kept himself busy. He has been a part of a film titled “The Bay Laurel” in which he plays a detective who is working closely with a Hollywood actor to find out who killed her husband. In addition to that, he also starred in “Rendezvous,” “Knowing,” “L.A. Apocalypse” and “South 32.”

When David is not filming, he is producing business commercials or TV pilots. His company, Via Lago Creative Media produces commercials, actor reels, TV pilots, and edits videos for smaller production companies. David Lago explained that working in production has been a passion of his since he was 15-years-old.

I would love to see David Lago back! he would definitely add to the 20 to 35 age group of Genoa City characters. One of his activities not mentioned above was playing Elvis Presley in the show “Million-Dollar Quartet.” He was part of the travel group of performers. I saw the show 3 times in Chicago, but never with him, although he was advertised as being here. Maybe he could teach a few of the current cast how to act. (Just a thought.)
Who cares? Too many characters being constantly parachuted in and leaving dangling storylines. Concentrate On The regular characters with decent writing and direction instead of shuffling people around , in and out. This year, at least 8-10 people as recurring or gone/ going!
WOULD LOVE TO SEE DAVID BACK
I adored the character of Raul when he was on the Y&R. I would be thrilled to see him come back, as long as he has a strong story line and stays for a while.
Nikki to take Victor down when he least expect it. Raul would be a great asset to the Y&R. Jack has an older son from the war days. Remember? Bring him back onto the show. That will be something to also watch and be interesting.
