November sweeps is a time that soaps roll out their best material in hopes of snagging a bigger audience. This year was no exception; the soaps went all out- shocking fans with their material. “The Young and the Restless” rolled out their ‘best’ storylines, and many of the plots are stalled and well, um stale. Let’s examine some of the storylines, below.
“The Young and the Restless” writers are not in touch with what the fans want to see. It is completely obvious when you see what they call exciting ‘must-watch daytime TV. It’s sad that the most thrilling part of the month was the Halloween gala explosion. It was exciting to watch; however, it left you asking a few questions about it. For example, how did no one die in the blaze, if the whole building was complete destroyed?

Another HUGE storyline was Adam’s [Justin Hartley] trial and sentencing. Fans were extremely upset at the possibility of him serving time in jail for something many don’t even believe he did. Why didn’t Michael bring up that he doesn’t see very well and could NOT have seen her- giving Adam a medical explanation for the Hit-and-Run?
Hilary [Mishael Morgan] woke up during sweeps, and it is a storyline most fans simply do not care about. If you are like most fans, you fast forward the scenes with Devon [Kristoff St. John] and Devon [Bryton James]. The storyline has been going on for so long that no one cares anymore. The writers succeed in taking a well-loved character like Neil and completely tarnishing his reputation with fans.
Dr. Anderson’s [Elizabeth Bogush] mysterious past has fans wondering where the storyline may go. Many are upset at the possibility for another extremely long and drawn-out kidnapping story [remember Faith’s baby swap storyline- it took forever to resolve]. Fans demanded to see Sharon [Sharon Case] in a positive storyline. They wanted her to redeem herself and find happiness with Dylan [Steve Burton]. Clearly, Sharon is not getting happiness anytime soon as she will be gifted with a baby, who is NOT hers, and she will eventually be forced to give him back to Sage.
Lastly, will Ian Ward [Ray Wise] ever die? It seems like he reached super villain status, thus Genoa City will be stuck with him forever. He keeps coming back to bring more pain and destruction on the Newman clan. Now, he’s partnered up with Patty Williams [Stacy Haiduk]? The matchup is a recipe for disaster.
