‘The Young and the Restless’ News: Sofia Pernas Lands A Year Contract – Y&R’s Marisa Staying In Genoa City

Good news “Y&R” fans, Sofia Pernas just landed a year contract with the show, according to CBS Soaps in Depth. According to the report, the actress who portrays Marisa was bumped from reoccurring status to contract status. Let’s face it; it wasn’t much of a surprise after her HUGE role in taking down Marco Annicelli (Peter Bergman).

Marisa is a very complex character. You can tell she is withholding a couple of very big secrets, and it is only a matter of time until those secrets become public knowledge to all Genoa City residents. She has fallen for Noah Newman (Robert Adamson), and his grandpa; Victor (Eric Braeden) is not pleased with their involvement. He feels she is a bad influence to his squeaky-clean frat boy grandson- and he’s likely right in this instance.

Marisa was part of the plot to take down Marco Annicelli. In fact, she lured him to the cabin with her sex appeal- promising him a life together. She called Jack to kill him- who called Victor- which led to Marco’s confinement back to the Peruvian prison. They swore they would never speak about Marco again.

Right after the incident, Victor approached Marisa about a special deal he had for her. In the deal, she’d leave town in exchange for half a million dollars. She refused to take the money, she claimed Genoa City was now her home. That didn’t stop Victor, he proceeded to mail her large check to her at her place of employment, The Underground. He hoped that Noah would see the check and doubt her loyalty to him. It didn’t work in the end. Victor’s family knows him all too well; however, Victor has dirt on Marisa if he chooses to use it.

Maria was settling into a comfortable Genoa City life. She had a great rich boyfriend, enjoys her job, and making friends. So what does TPTB do? You guessed it; they sent her husband in the mix to shake things up. Luca Santori (Miles Gaston Villanueva) showed up, hoping to take his beautiful wife out of town. He claimed he was sent by Marco Annicelli! Could Marco be returning to Genoa City soon? Will Marisa leave Noah for her mysterious husband?
