‘The Young And The Restless’ News: Melody Thomas Scott Crowned ‘Y&R’ Performer Of The Week – Emotional Scenes With Sage Newman

“The Young and the Restless” star, Melody Thomas Scott proved to her fans why Nikki Newman is an iconic character on the number one CBS daytime drama. Soap Opera Spy names her star of the December 14-18 for her scene with Kelly Sullivan as she relived the horror of losing her precious child decades ago.

Nikki retold a heart-wrenching story this week on “Y&R” as she assured Sage [Kelly Sullivan] that she truly does understand how she feels losing an infant child. Apparently, Nikki was once pregnant with a child with Jack Abbott [Peter Bergman] and due to an argument with Victor Newman [Eric Braeden], she fell down the stairs and lost her baby.

The scene was touching as Nikki cried remembering her sweet baby that she never could hold and love the way she envisioned. Sage was touched by her admission and told her she had no idea she lost a child. Nikki told her she doesn’t like to talk about it; however, she felt Sage needed to hear her story.

Nikki explained to her daughter-in-law that he understood her grief and knows in time she will be just fine. She encouraged Sage to reach out to Nick [Joshua Morrow] before the loss tears apart her marriage. Sage told her she wanted to grieve with Nick, but something inside her pushes him away.

The scene was touching and prompted the fans to question why Melody Thomas Scott isn’t used more often. Scott is a talented actress who is flawless in her portrayal of Nikki.  It’s clear that Sage and Nikki have a connection that she never felt with Nick’s previous wives. The CBS show should implement more scenes with Nikki connecting on an emotional level to the other women on the show.
