‘The Young And The Restless’ News: CONFIRMED Billy Abbott Actor Burgess Jenkins Leaving Y&R

“The Young And The Restless” spoilers are confirming that Burgess Jenkins is OUT, the actor is quitting the CBS soap opera after a little over a year as Billy Abbott.  Y&R rumors have been floating around the internet indicating that Burgess Jenkins was exiting Genoa City, however no one from CBS had confirmed or denied the casting news – until now.

Burgess Jenkins released an official statement on Monday November 2^nd confirming that the rumors were true and he had decided to leave “The Young And The Restless.”  Here’s what Jenkins had to say about his exit, per Soap Opera Digest:

“It’s been a terrific time, but after a lot of thought I have made the difficult decision to leave The Young and the Restless. Commuting back and forth from the East Coast, where my home and family are based, has been challenging. I’ve had a great ride in Genoa City and I will miss our talented cast and crew tremendously. I would like to thank all of the amazing fans for their support, Jill Farren Phelps [executive producer] and Chuck Pratt [head writer/executive producer] for their excellent leadership, and everyone at Sony and CBS for this opportunity.” 

So far TPTB from “The Young And The Restless” still have not made any comment on Jenkins’ decision to quit the CBS soap opera.  So, it is unclear if they plan to recast the role of Billy Abbott (again), or leave the character off the canvas for a while.  As you all know, Billy Miller abandoned the role of Billy Abbott in 2014, and Burgess Jenkins was cast as his replacement in June 2014.
