‘The Young and the Restless’ News: Beth Maitland Returns For Christmas – And Maybe Longer!

“The Young and the Restless” Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott Connelly) is returning to Genoa City for Christmas! Maitland may also stick around town after the holidays for a little while.

Soap Opera Digest reports that Maitland is bring Traci back to the Abbott mansion just in time to celebrate the holidays with siblings Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman), Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), Billy Abbott (Jenkins Burgess). Beth Maitland’s first air date will be December 24, and she will be seen for multiple episodes.

Beth Maitland originated the role of Traci Abbott on “The Young and the Restless” in 1982 – the only actress to portray the character. Traci was the youngest of the Abbott children until Jill Abbot (Jess Walton) gave birth to Billy – her son with John Abbott (Jerry Douglas). Traci has come and gone from Genoa City several times since she left town in 1996 with husband Steve Connelly (Greg Wrangler), a publisher who lived in New York City. Traci and Steve eventually divorced after the death of Traci’s daughter Colleen Carlton with husband Brad Carlton (Don Diamont).

Maitland has brought Traci back to “Y&R” for a few guest appearances over the years, usually involving an Abbott family emergency or a holiday. After Traci’s divorce she came back to Genoa City and moved in with her niece Abby Newman. Since then “The Young and the Restless” saw Traci a few times, but not recently.
