Soaps In Depth sat down with Stacy Haiduk, the actress who portrays the humorous yet often off the rails, Patty Williams. She spoke about reprise the role of Patty, how long she’ll be on and what it was like to play a sane Patty.
Stacy recalled the moment, she was asked to reprise her iconic role of Patty. She got the email from her agent, and she said she accepted without thinking about it all. She said, “I nervously said yes to my agent. I wanted to make sure my agent told CBS I wanted the gig right away.” Stacy said she really feels like CBS is her home and has thoroughly enjoyed portraying Patty- through the good and bad. She recalled feeling positively giddy pulling up to CBS to park for the first day. “I felt like I was home. Just driving into the CBS parking lot was a thrilling experience. When I walked into the studio and saw the friendly faces of my co-stars, it felt like I was finally home. The fact is to come into any set and feel like you truly belong there is an incredible feeling as an actress,” Stacy said.

Stacy said her enthusiasm doesn’t only come from working with CBS, and her wonderful co-stars again. She also loves portraying her alter ego, Patty Williams. “Patty is a complex person with many layers. She is often misunderstood which results in her having a need to act out. She is a full character. I always loved portraying her because it is all around full experience,” Stacy said.
Haiduk said that in prime-time TV often times the character only serves to carry out the plot. In daytime TV, the writers write the plot around the characters and genuinely care about character development. “There are a bunch of actors on the show that have been there 20 or more years. You never see that in prime-time TV,” Stacy noted.
Stacy explained that portraying Patty this time has been a very different experience since she is much saner than she has been in a very long time. She said, “I have been fine tuning who Patty is right now and adjusted her personality accordingly. She isn’t the same Patty she was three years ago and doesn’t respond to others the same way.” She noted that Patty isn’t as much crazy as she is very child-like and trusting of others.
