“Before coming to Y&R, Bryton had worked so much and consistently as an actor. He starred for many years on the hit sitcom, Family Matters, which was a show I watched religiously. When he joined Y&R, I felt like I already knew him and felt a little in awe of him. You could tell right away that although this was a different arena for him, he was not a fish out of the water. His first scenes with Eric Braeden [ Victor Newman, Bryton held his own with the Mustache. I’m sure like myself; the first scene with Eric was intimidating, but I could tell right away that the young actor was going to be just fine,” St. John said.
Kristoff St. John says that despite the fact, he admires James as a teenage actor, he still teases him about his sitcom beginnings. “I joke with him every day. When he sees me at the studio, he says ‘Look it’s Kristoff St. John, the Denzel Washington of daytime.’ I always reply with ‘It’s little Richie, or was it Raphie. Or little Robbie? We have a good time together. I love that kid,” explained Kristoff St. John.
