‘The Young and the Restless’ Interview: Michael E. Knight Talks About His Y&R Character Dr. Simon Neville

“The Young and the Restless” (Y&R) may just have hit a homerun when they cast three time Daytime Emmy winner Michael E. Knight as Dr. Simon Neville – described as a shady neurologist. Fans should expect to see the good doctor roll into Genoa City on October 15.

Knight took time to dish about his new role in an exclusive interview with TV Insider. Dr. Neville has been retained to the care of oversee Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) as he spirals out of control – somehow Dr. Neville will keep the “Hilary situation” under control. The former “All My Children” (AMC) star reveals that Neville is “very cool, kind of eccentric and a rule breaker.” The new doctor in town is exceptionally brilliant – or at least he thinks he is – and has quite a sense of humor. But that’s all Michael is saying at this time about his character. He did express his enthusiasm about working with Chuck Pratt – “Y&R” current head writer who held the same position at “All My Children” for less than a year.

Welcomed with open arms by “The Young and the Restless” family, Michael E. Knight said that former co-star Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) was caught off-guard when Michael showed up for his first day of work on the set. He said it was also good to see his friends Steve Burton (Dylan McAvoy) and Kristoff St. John – and that he has really enjoyed working with Kristoff – and the actor has nothing but praise for the rest of the cast as well as the crew and executive producer Jill Farren Phelps.

Fans have missed Michael – his character Tad “The Cad” Martin was a huge fan favorite on “All My Children.” Will Dr. Simon Neville also be a bit of a ladies man? He certainly could shake things up with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) – he’s the perfect age for the CEO of Jabot.
