‘The Young And The Restless’ Interview: Alyvia Alyn Lind Discusses Working With Joshua Morrow And Sharon Case, New Dolly Parton Movie

On December 10, Alyvia Alyn Lind [Faith Newman, Y&R] will portray a young Dolly Parton on the made-for TV movie, “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” on NBC. The pint-sized actress talked about Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow, her ability to turn on the tears quickly, and why she loves being a full-time actress at eight- years-old.

Lind explained that when she learned that she would play the child Dolly Parton in her movie, she couldn’t believe she got the part. She said, “I am so lucky to know Dolly. She is giving and warm and made me feel at ease around her. Every loves her, wherever she goes.”  She explained that she learned so much from Dolly in the past few months. Alyvia stated, “I have learned so much from her. She never gives up. She believes in her dreams, but knows you have to work hard to get them to come true.”

Alyvia was asked if she received any advice from her TV parents about her new movie, and she said typically they do not give her advice. She explained, “I started working on Y&R when I was three, so I watched all the action onstage and they [Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow] were my role models. Sharon and Josh joke around with me all the time, but they are serious when it’s time to get the job done. They always know all their lines, and are prepared in all other ways, I strive to be that way. I am very lucky they are my parents on the show. “

Soap Opera Digest asked the young actress what she likes best about being an actor. Alyvia replied, “I like pretending to be other people. I mostly try to get roles that are not like me at all. It makes it harder to portray the person, which is a challenge; I like.”

Lind said in order to cry on a command, she thinks about how the person would feel if their brother died, or whatever the situation is on the show. She noted that it became harder to cry if they have to do multiple takes of the scene, but she can do it. She explained that doing emotional scenes can be pretty exhausting by the end of them day.

Alyvia stated that she hoped to be an actress for the rest of her life. “I really love it. And I already feel like it is what I am meant to do with my life. I plan to keep working hard, and get more jobs,” Alyvia Alyn Lind said.
