'One Life To Live' News: Tony Award-Winning Actress Patricia Elliot Dead At 77She Knows Soaps reported that “One Life to Live” alum Patricia Elliot passed away on Saturday. According to Michael Fairman, the Tony award-winning actress succumbed to cancer at the age of 77. Sally Fay, the late actress’ niece, reported Patricia passed away in her Manhattan home on December 20.

Patricia Elliot portrayed Renee Divine Buchanan on the ABC soap opera, “One Life to Live” from 1988-2011. She shared many scenes, decades of on air time, with the iconic character Asa Buchanan portrayed by the late Phil Carey.

Patricia won her first Tony award her work in the musical “A Little Night Music” in 1973. She debuted in the musical as Countess Charlotte Malcolm in Stephen Sondheim’s production. Elliot starred in “The Elephant Man” opposite of David Bowie. Patricia had countless Broadway stage credits under her belt.

Elliot was born in Colorado and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1960. She participated in theatre in Minneapolis, Washington, D.C., and Broadway in New York City. Patricia was always active in the theatre, even after retiring doing small parts.

Patricia was nominated for her first Tony award in 1977 for her role in “The Shadow Box.” Other Broadway credits include “A Dolls House,” A Month of Sundays,” ” Hedda Gabler, “ and “The Elephant Man.” The award-winning actress replaced Carole Shelley in the play “The Elephant Man.

Patricia Elliot was a presence on daytime TV for over twenty years. Not only did she spend 23 years on “One Life to Live,” but was active in Broadway for decades.

Besides her niece, Sally Fay, Patricia Elliot’s only known living relative is her aunt, Claudine Walker. It is believed she could have several cousins living within the New York area. Patricia Elliot was a legend in her craft, and her absence will be missed.
