Mother’s Day Ranking: Who Is the Worst Mom on Daytime Soaps? (POLL)

On Mother’s Day, we always think about what’s great about our mums – from how much they loved us and cared for us to how they molded us into the wonderful people we are today. But what about those soap moms who failed spectacularly at being decent parents? What about those that plotted, schemed and outright tormented their children? To help you appreciate just how great your mom is, today we look at the worst moms on our favorite soaps!

General Hospital

Helena Cassadine [Constance Towers]
Just the name alone should bring shivers to your spine. Helena is the face of pure evil in Port Charles (and beyond). She’s a bad mom and an even worse step-mother. She murdered Alexis Davis’ [Nancy Lee Grahn] mother in front of her. Then she froze son Stavros and emotionally abused son Stefan and pushed his fiancee off a parapet. She’s a scary grandma too. She had Nikolas Cassadine’s [Tyler Christopher] wife Emily raped to punish him then kidnapped his son Spencer Cassadine [Nicolas Bechtel]. And those are the people she cared about…

Madeline Reeves [Donna Mills]
Madeline is sister to Liesl Obrecht [Kathleen Gahti] which makes her evil on a genetic level. She tried to force her daughter Nina Clay [Michelle Stafford] to miscarry by overdosing her on antidepressants. She almost killed Nina who then spent years in a coma. Rumors abound that the baby wasn’t miscarried but was born while Nina was in a coma and Madeline gave it away. She also lied to Nathan for years and told him she was his mummy (she’s not) and hid Nathan’s father’s identity from him as well. She’s just awful!

Days of Our Lives

Eve Donovan [Kassie DePaiva]
It’s hard to understand how someone so horrible as Eve could have produced a child as generous and kind as her daughter Paige Larson [True O’Brien]. Former prostitute Eve has no scruples about what she has to do to get her way. After Eve lost out to Jennifer Horton-Devereaux [Melissa Reeves], she decided to break up Jennifer’s son JJ Devereaux [Casey Moss] and Paige. She paid Paige’s bestie Marybeth to make JJ look like a cheater. When that failed, Eve bedded the young guy personally and then plotted with Cole to further divide them. Bad mom – bad!

Kate Roberts [Lauren Koslow]
Kate has lots of kids but doesn’t seem to be on good terms with most of them. She took Countess Wilhelmina away from daughter Billie Reed [Lisa Rinna]. Kate’s actions almost got son Lucas Roberts [Bryan Dattilo] killed then tried to break up his happy coupling with Sami Brady [Alison Sweeney]. And even though she has no qualms about plotting and scheming to try and help Lucas get what he wants (at all costs), she is decidedly lacking in motherly warmth. While not the evilest mom in the universe of soaps, Kate is certainly no prize!

Bold and the Beautiful

Quinn Fuller [Rena Sofer]
Quinn’s son Wyatt Fuller [Darin Brooks] considers his workaholic mom a good parent, but she doesn’t always act as she should. For instance, she clearly lied about his paternity and told him that his father died when he was young when, in actuality, his father is Bill Spencer Jr [Don Diamont]. She later tried to kill his dad Bill with no regard for how that would affect son Wyatt. Grossly, she also showed Wyatt a selfie of her and his dad in bed (ick – who does that?). Wyatt also had to stop his mom from murdering Liam Spencer [Scott Clifton]. She’s a bad influence all around.

Brooke Logan [Katherine Kelly Lang]
With five kids from four different baby daddies, Brooke has a lot on her hands but she keeps busy by tormenting her children. Brooke slept with daughter Bridget Forrester’s [Ashley Jones] husband Deacon Sharpe [Sean Kanan] and – even worse – got knocked up doing it so Bridget has to see half-sister Hope Logan [Kimberly Matula] as a constant reminder of the betrayal. Brooke also slept with Bridget’s other love Nick Malone [Jack Wagner]. And this is aside from all her other scheming and sexual shenanigans.

The Young and the Restless

Sharon Newman [Sharon Case]
Not only is Sharon a less than stellar mother, she’s also a terrible daughter to mother Doris Collins [Karen Hensel]. She considered aborting Noah then Sharon fell in love with daughter Faith Newman’s kidnapper Adam Newman [Justin Hartley] despite his crime against her daughter. Sharon also has casual sex around the house where impressionable teenage son Noah Newman [Robert Adamson]. One of the worst betrayals Sharon has perpetrated on her children was letting them believe she had died. She does have “crazy” as an excuse, but still…

Gloria Abbott [Judith Chapman]
For starters, Gloria allowed her drunk husband Tom Fisher abuse her sons Michael Baldwin [Christian LeBlanc] and Kevin Fisher [Greg Rikaart]. She allowed her jerk hubby Tom to make her siphon away money intended for Michael’s wedding. Kevin’s childhood abuse, including him being locked in a closet while his mom watched, led him down a rough road in adulthood that included time in jail and a vicious beating while behind bars. Most fan polls agree that Gloria is the worst mom in Genoa City and we have to agree!
