‘General Hospital’ RUMOR: Will ‘GH’ Reclaim ‘DOOL’ Stars Greg Vaughan And Wally Kurth?

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers tease that ‘Days of Our Lives’ losses could be GH gains with one returning character possibly headed to Port Charles and one recast of a recast. Here’s the scoop on the soap actor merry-go-round.

GH fans were sad to lose Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth) as he left Port Charles to head to Salem to resume the mantle of Justin Kiriakis. But now that Kurth is off contract status at DOOL and has been back-burnered to a recurring character, does that mean he’ll come back to GH?

There’s definitely a place for Ned in the relationship mix. It seemed abrupt when Ned showed up just long enough to dump Olivia Falconeri (Lisa LoCicero) over her baby Leo lie. But now that the baby Leo secret is not a secret, there’s no reason Olivia can’t be with Ned.

Plus, now that Olivia is peacefully co-parenting with Julian Jerome (William deVry) and Julian got engaged to Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn), there’s a ton of story fodder here. Over the Christmas holiday, Alexis will feel left out when she sees Julian, Olivia and Leo in their matching sweaters.

Alexis will be jealous of Julian’s growing closeness with his other baby mama despite the bling on her ring finger. That’s good stuff. But add Ned into the mix and you’ve got the potential for an explosion. Ned doesn’t like Julian plus Ned has a ton of history with Alexis.

There’s so much that could be done with that foursome that it would be amazing to have Ned back. Plus with Jason Morgan (Billy Miller) back from the dead, there are Q family dynamics to explore with Ned as well. Fingers crossed we get Kurth back on GH.

The second actor shift may be Greg Vaughan who played Eric Brady on ‘Days of Our Lives’ and Lucky Spencer on GH. Vaughan is done at DOOL since the storyline of Eric wrapped, so he’s a free agent and it would be amazing to have Lucky back in Port Charles.

You’ll recall that Greg Vaughan played Lucky for six years, from 2003 to 2009, after Jacob Young took over the role from Jonathan Jackson and then Jackson resumed the part in a triple recast when Vaughan left and Jackson portrayed Lucky up through this year.

Jonathan Jackson has his hands full playing Avery Barkley on ABC primetime soap Nashville. So that leaves a perfect opportunity to bring Vaughan back to fill the shoes of Lucky. Liz Webber (Rebecca Herbst) could use some help right now.

Since Lucky also knew Jason’s identity secret, he wouldn’t be upset with Liz for keeping the truth from Jason. Plus Lucky’s presence in Port Charles could make Jason see what he’d be missing if he didn’t reunite with Liz despite her lies.

Lucky coming back would expand the love triangle of Liz-Jason-Sam into a love quadrangle. Plus since Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) has a murky past with Lucky, that would be a good way for Jason to find out Sam also has some dirty laundry she’d rather he not know.

It would be an incredible coup for GH showrunners to land these two talents while they’re available. If ‘General Hospital’ signed Wally Kurth and Greg Vaughan back up for a tour of duty in Port Charles, it would be the perfect Christmas gift for GH fans.
