When Valerie showed up at Dante’s loft to bring Thanksgiving dinner, she saw the separation papers that Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) had left him to sign. To Valerie, that legal document looked like permission to bed her man.
So what do you think? Do Valerie’s actions make her a homewrecker who’s actively trying to break up the marriage of her cousin Lulu? Or is Valerie just misunderstood and not that bad of a gal? Hmm… Let’s consider this for a moment.
First of all, let’s admit that Valerie has had a rough year. Her mom died and it doesn’t look like her father is around. She has no one left in this world and is in obviously feeling adrift and sad. That’s why she settled in Port Charles.
Valerie is also emotionally vulnerable and it looks like Lulu has everything that Valerie wants. Lulu has two parents (even if they are flakes), a husband, a child, and loving brothers plus she owns her own business.
Valerie has absolutely no one plus Lulu has been an occasional jerk to Val from the start even when Val was grieving over her mom’s death. Dante, on the other hand, has been very supportive to Valerie through this all.
On the flip side, Lulu is one of Valerie’s few relatives left in the world, so it seems pretty awful to intentionally alienate her cousin. Plus, the bottom line is that Dante is a married man and has been this whole time.
But flipping it back over, it’s doubtful Dante would have ever laid a hand on Val if Lulu hadn’t strongly given the impression to Dante that she was cheating with Dillon Quartermaine (Robert Palmer Watkins). That’s a fact.
Even if Lulu didn’t shag Dillon, no way should she have been spending the night in a hotel room with the guy she gave up her “v” card to. Plus, Dante knows that Dillon is the guy that Lulu was in a cheating situation with before.
Remember, Dillon was married to Georgie Jones when Lulu seduced him by lying about his wife. If you think about it, Lulu has been in the same position Valerie was in, except that Lulu didn’t have the excuse that Valerie does.
As far as Valerie knew, Lulu was cheating with Dillon the first time she slept with Dante. And the second time, Lulu had separated from Dante. Valerie shouldn’t have done it either time but, then again, she was attached to Dante by then.
Valerie fell for Dante on the tail end of grieving for her mother. Granted, she should NOT have – but you can’t help where your heart goes. You can, however, control where your panties go – and they should not have ended up on Lulu’s bed.
There’s a case to be made for Valerie being misunderstood in this whole mess but you can also see that her actions have contributed to the breakup of a marriage. At the end of the day, though, it seems like Dante and Lulu are to blame.
If not Valerie, Dante may have turned to someone else – and this whole thing was triggered by Lulu’s lying. But is that enough to excuse Valerie’s actions? Vote in the poll and share your thoughts on the Lulu-Dante-Valerie triangle in the comments below.
