‘General Hospital’ Poll: Does Baby Avery Belong With Sonny Corinthos Or Ava Jerome? Vote Now!

‘General Hospital’ (GH) spoilers indicate that the custody battle for adorable baby Avery is far from over. Carly Corinthos [Laura Wright] just went to Ava Jerome [Maura West] to appeal to her to let Avery visit with Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard] over Christmas.

It was a pretty funny exchange – when Carly approached her and brought up Christmas, Ava told her she didn’t have to get her a gift (HA!). But after that, Ava seemed to consider Carly’s request for holiday visitation then turned her down flat.

But it looks like Kiki Jerome [Hayley Erin] will get her mom to soften her heart and take Avery with her over to the Corinthos casa for a holiday visit. It’s so sweet to see little Avery with Sonny, but it’s also sweet to see her with Ava since she has no one else in her life.

While many GH fans seem to think Sonny deserves Avery in the custody battle, is that really the best outcome for the kid? Aren’t Sonny and Ava on pretty equal footing when it comes to their kid? Sure they’ve made out in court like each is worse, but it seems like the footing is even.

Protecting their Kids

Pro – Ava

Ava raised Kiki as a loving mom and kept her out of harm’s way all those years despite her dubious involvement with her brother Julian Jerome [William deVry] and the Jerome crime syndicate.

Con – Sonny

Sonny’s crime endeavors constantly put his kids in harm’s way. Michael Quartermaine [Chad Duell] was shot, other of his kids were kidnapped, and there’s a whole host of ongoing dangerous circumstances.

Relationship with their Kids

Con – Ava

Ava can barely get Kiki to spend five minutes with her, much less spend time at her house for a holiday. Kiki is furious at her mom and while it may have thawed recently, it doesn’t look good for the future.

Pro – Sonny

As of now, Sonny has a solid relationship with all his kids. Even Michael is standing by his side. Morgan Corinthos [Bryan Craig] is with him and Kristina Corinthos [Lexi Ainsworth] loves her dad.

Relationships with Others

Con – Ava

Let’s face it, Ava isn’t making good choices these days. She’s shagging Port Charles’ evil DA Paul Hornsby [Richard Burgi] and has recently shagged Morgan, son of her nemesis and her daughter’s boyfriend.

Con – Sonny

Right now, Sonny is married and seems stable but, let’s face it, that’s the fifth marriage for Carly and Sonny and his track record with women is pretty unstable and shady.

Choice of Careers

Con – Ava

Ava has a dangerous gun runner lurking around her art gallery plus who knows what else she’s tied into thanks to Paul. Ava is playing a dangerous game with her ongoing mob involvement.

Con – Sonny

Sonny has made it clear that he can’t and won’t step away from his cartel. That means his kids are in ongoing danger. He also has a legitimate front business like Ava, but is in just as deep.

Murderous Past

Con – Ava

Everyone likes to bring up when Ava shot Connie Falconeri and it’s true she did that murder herself. But usually, she had her hired gun Carlos Rivera [Jeffrey Vincent Parise] do her dirty work.

Con – Sonny

We watched Sonny shoot another mob boss in cold blood at the last five families meeting he attended. He’s got no problem getting his hands dirty and even murdered AJ, the bio-dad of son Michael.

The bottom line is – both Ava and Sonny are bottom feeders in their own way. Sure Sonny can be loving to Carly and his kids, but Ava is equally loving to her kids (despite the inappropriate involvement with Morgan).

Sonny may seem more respected in the community, but is it more fear than respect? Both are cold-blooded killers, both are mob bosses, both have had inappropriate sexual encounters, and both have marks against them as parents.
