‘General Hospital’ POLL: Ava Jerome And Paul Hornsby Next GH Power Couple – Mobster And DA Belong Together? VOTE!

Even if you don’t like Ava Jerome [Maura West] or Paul Hornsby [Richard Burgi] individually, you have to love them as a pair of sexy schemers. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers indicate that there’s much more to come from these two, including dangerous mob shenanigans and a steamy romance, but are they a good team? Let’s consider what these two have going for them as an evil power pair.

First, Ava and Paul are both capable of murder – we’ve seen them gun down people that got in their way. Ava killed Connie Falconeri and Paul killed Kyle Sloane [Robb Derringer] and tried to off Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard]. So when it comes to cold blooded killing, they are a good match. Sure Ava may act like she feels guilt after her acts of violence, but that doesn’t slow her roll. So that’s good.

Second, Ava and Paul have killer chemistry. Their kisses are electric plus Paul is age-appropriate for Ava which would be a nice change. This could help repair Ava’s relationship with Kiki Jerome [Hayley Erin] if it cures Ava of her Morgan Corinthos [Bryan Craig] addiction. We can’t wait to see them finally take a roll in the hay – the passion is going to be room-rattling! So that’s another plus for Paul and Ava.

Third, they both have a vested interest in the Jerome mob. The only reason that Ava ever stepped back from it was because of her baby Avery custody case. Ava loves the power that comes from the syndicate – as does Paul. And now that she’s got Avery, there should be nothing stopping Ava from grabbing the reins of the Jerome cartel and taking it further. That shared interest is good for Paul and Ava.

What’s not good right now about their relationship, though, is that it’s unbalanced. Paul has leverage over Ava because of the evidence he stole from the DA’s office. Sure she can tell people he’s a mobster but she can’t prove it. Paul, however, can send her to jail and make sure she never sees Avery again. We’d like to see Paul burn the evidence so Ava can stand on equal footing with him.

The other factor that’s not good is that Ava and Paul cannot have a public relationship. Paul is still stringing Tracy Quartermaine [Jane Elliot] along and, as the DA, he can’t just go out to dinner with Ava since she’s one of Port Charles top mobsters. Their relationship has to be a dirty secret, but since Ava did the dirty secret thing with Morgan, this may not bother her – at least for now.

Overall, Ava and Paul are good for each other and do make a good team, but their pairing is NOT good for Port Charles. There’s no telling what these two will do now that Sonny is out of commission and Jason Morgan [Billy Miller] will soon turn down a job offer to resume his role as Sonny’s enforcer. Max Giambetti [Derk Cheetwood] will be no match for these two…
