‘General Hospital’ News: Wally Kurth Leaving GH But Laura Wright Says Ned Is Not Gone For Good!

If you’re a ‘General Hospital’ fan, you’ve likely heard that Wally Kurth, aka Ned Ashton, is leaving Port Charles. He’s headed back to Days of Our Lives to resume his role as Justin Kiriakis. This is a tough time for Ned’s character to be exiting the show. He’s pretending to be Olivia Falconeri’s [Lisa LoCicero] baby daddy so that Julian Jerome [William deVry] doesn’t know he’s the real papa to be. Ned has also stepped up to put a stop to Franco’s [Roger Howarth] blackmailing of Olivia.

It looks like Ned will be handing over shares of ELQ stock to Franco to buy him off. This is poor timing since Nikolas Cassadine [Tyler Christopher] is revving up for a takeover. So Ned is tied into two major storylines. But if Franco gets the ELQ shares, that will pull Ned out of the ELQ takeover story line and that only leaves the mess with Olivia. On that front, in the next few days, Ned will confess to Olivia that he has feelings for her. ‘General Hospital’ spoilers indicate Olivia will rebuff him.

With no one to love, no baby to raise and no shares of stock, this will set Ned up for a clean exit. The good news is, Kurth will go out with a bang. He’ll perform at the Nurses Ball on the May episodes as Eddie Maine. Last year’s performance of the Meatloaf song You Took the Words Right Out of My Mouth was so hot! I wonder how he’ll top it this year. I’m confident he’ll wow us again. But once this is done, is this the last we’ve seen of Ned Ashton in Port Charles?

We’ve got the answers you want. At the recent GH Fantasy Weekend in New Jersey, Soap Opera Spy got one on one with Wally Kurth to find out the truth. We asked Wally if he would be coming back to ‘General Hospital’ and he said, “The door is always open. I left on good terms so it is always possible.” But then co-star Laura Wright went further and said to Wally, “Come on admit it, tell the truth you are not leaving for good.”

This is not the biggest shocker, but is good news to hear. After all, if we can have Duke Lavery, Stavros Cassadine, Cesar Faison and a host of others come back from the dead, certainly Ned Ashton can come back from the living. Hopefully GH show runners won’t have Ned shot up at the big Nurses Ball Massacre this year (spoiler alert).

So far, rumors indicate that Olivia, Dante Falconeri [Dominic Zamprogna], Jordan Ashford [Vinessa Antoine] and Brad Cooper [Parry Shen] will all be injured and Duke Lavery [Ian Buchanan] will do. If Ned is going to be taken out as part of the two part shoot out, that will be a shocker. One gun battle will center on an assassin hired to take out Sonny Corinthos [Maurice Benard] and Carly Corinthos [Laura Wright] which Jake Doe [Billy Miller] will deal with at the Metro Court.

The second part if a gun battle between rival mob factions in a parking garage that will injure the others. So will Ned be part of one of these? Will he be shot on stage in mid-song as Eddie Maine? Or will the writers just have Ned stroll out of Port Charles cool as a cucumber to go nurse his broken heart when Olivia tells him she doesn’t feel romantically inclined towards him?
