Good News General Hospital fans! Rick Springfield ex-Dr. Noah Drake, Patrick Drake’s father on GH can be seen in August 2015 in Meryl Streep’s new movie. Rick will play Meryl’s love interest Greg.
Meryl Streep is no stranger to wearing the musical hat. She starred in Mamma Mia!, played the evil singing witch in Into The Woods, and now she is getting ready to play a rock star mom in an upcoming Sony film directed by Jonathan Demme titled, Ricki and The Flash.
Meryl Streep will play Ricki, a rock star musician, and mother, who left her family to pursue her dreams in the music industry. When Ricki finds out that her daughter, played by Meryl Streep’s real life daughter Mamie Gummer, is dumped by her fiancé, she will return to her family to try to rectify the situation.
The trailer depicts Ricki discussing her rock star parenting style with her family. The film will also star Sebastian Stan as Ricki’s son, Kevin Kline as her ex-husband, and Audra McDonald, as her wife’s new husband and Rick Springfield as Greg.
From the looks of things, the film will focus more on the drama between the family than the actual music industry, but you can get a glimpse of Meryl Streep singing “Drift Away” with General Hospital alum Rick Springfield, who will play her lover, in the trailer.
Check out the trailer and let us know what you think. The film will hit hearted August 7, and has been tag lined by Sony, “Get Ready to Rock. Get Ready to Roll. Get Ready for Ricki!” Cheesy, but to the point.
Are you going to go see Ricki and the Flash when it comes out?
