‘General Hospital’ News: Laura Wright And Maurice Benard Star In ‘Joy’ Movie With Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence, who portrays Joy is on track to secure another Oscar win for the film, “Joy.” The film is directed by David O. Russell, and according to the reports it is a sure hit. The film will be one for all soap fans to watch as it features some of the greatest soap stars of all time in the background of the movie.  In the film, Joy’s mother [portrayed by Virginia Madsen] watches soap operas for years in the background Joy’s mom is a colorful character and fun to watch.

Russell noted he decided to film ‘fake’ soap operas instead of airing clips of the current on-air shows. Show Biz 411 reported that Russell used the most famous soap opera queen of all time, Susan Lucci as Eric Dane. In the soap scenes, Laura Wright plays Carly Corthinos, and Maurice Bernard will portray Sonny Corthinos.

Director David O. Russell explained that the antics both in the storyline, and the background soap opera are a hoot. He says, “It’s not a throwaway either- all actors are featured in the film.” Susan, Laura and Maurice are not the only interesting cameo’s in the movie. Melissa Rivers does a hilarious impersonation of her late mother, Joan on the set of QVC. Joan appears in the script as the number-one pitchman of Jewelry on QVC.
