‘General Hospital’ News: Jeffrey Vincent Parise Shows Lighter Side in New Movie, Former GH Star Carlos Rivera in ‘Welcome to the Family’

If you’ve been missing Jeffrey Vincent Parise as Carlos on “General Hospital,” you might want to check him out in a new role. Parise was known for playing the part of a gritty mobster on GH, but his latest gig has a much lighter tone. TV One has an original movie coming out called “Welcome to the Family,” which stars Parise as the producer of a string of Internet reality series. In an interview with ABC Soaps in Depth, Parise offered fans a few details on what his character will be up to.

“When the host of my best show goes out on maternity leave, I’m convinced to give one of my producers, played by Kali Hawk, a chance to [replace her] and we have to find a story,” Parise said. It’s an intriguing premise that opens up plenty of opportunities. Parise explained that Hawk’s character is headed home to announce her engagement to her “lively and colorful family.” They’ll decide her relatives might just be crazy enough to attract viewers.

From there, things will take an interesting turn. It appears family secrets will stir up trouble. “As most reality TV producers probably do, my character sort of fudges [the truth] and tries to set the sails in the direction he wants them set,” Parise said. “General Hospital” fans might be surprised to see Parise show his comedic side. Parise suggested that those who tune in will see some slapstick and other funny moments along the way. Hawk and Parise even did a bit of improvising in their scenes.

It sounds like “Welcome to the Family” has a little something for everyone. Soap watchers will want to be on the lookout for another soap star in the upcoming flick. Valarie Pettiford, who played Sheila on “One Life to Live,” is also a part of the cast. You can watch the premiere on Saturday, September 26 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
