‘General Hospital’ News: Jason Thompson NOT Leaving GH – Patrick Drake Staying In Port Charles For Another Four Months?

“General Hospital’ superstar, Jason Thompson announced on October 30 that he planned to step away from his iconic role after portraying Dr. Patrick Drake for over a decade. Fans were shocked that he would leave his role, causing the fans to question Patrick’s uncertain future with “GH.”
CBS Soaps in Depth reported that Jason Thompson may have signed a four-month contract with the ABC soap opera to allow the writers time to wrap up the Jason [Billy Miller] reveal and conclude Robin [Kimberly McCullough] and Patrick’s storyline. It has been suggested that the duo will likely leave Port Charles with their daughter Emma in tow in February or March of 2016.
Currently, Thompson’s contract was to end December 31, 2015. Rumor has it he decided to stay for another four months to end late April. No one knows how the writers plan to end his decade run on the show- or know if his role will recast at some point.
It has been suggested that a major soap star could step in the role of Patrick Drake, but no confirmation from the network, yet. Nathan Varni stated that at this time, there is no plan to recast the role, and they plan to cast more actors to portray doctors on the soap, Michael Fairman reported.
It looks like for now, fans will not have to say goodbye to Thompson yet. As of right now, the extension covers his storylines until March- April, and if he plans on staying longer than that, he may be placed on a reoccurring status.

Sick and tired of Robin coming back and then leaving right away – just leave and either stay away or recast. Take Patrick with you – leave Emma. Patrick and Robin can go riding off into the sunset and NEVER return. Really, really tired of the revolving door just for a ratings spike.
I agree. I don’t get excited over Robin anymore. She shows up every so often for a couple of episodes and then disappears again. What’s the point. I hate the thought of Emma leaving. She’s so adorable and a great actress. They should leave her behind with Anna.

I’m very happy Jason will/may stick around. I really like the character. I like Robin, but like many others, tired of her coming and going. The worse though, is it makes her so cold to her family, especially Emma, when she takes off so easily.
Can’t stand Robin any more, she only comes back to hurt Patrick and Emma.
I am So so happy Jason Thompson is staying longer! He really is important to the show and to all of us who love to see him on our screen! As far as Robin goes…i had hoped her last time on GH was really her LAST TIME. She always comes in is sanctimonious and the way all the characters idolized her makes no sense! At least make some characters really shut Robin and her superiority down!
I totally agree that Robin coming and going is so unnecessary. Emma deserves some one to be a mother for more than a few weeks. I’m ready for JaSam reunion , this storyline has been dragging on long enough. They need to get Sonny walking this does nothing for the storyline. Tired of Liz and her whining!
I loved Robin and Patrick together.. I want JaSam & Danny back TOGETHER they need to be a family already… Give Patrick someone who who hurt him AGAIN at the alter,CANT STAND LIZ!!!!! OMG BYE FELICIA BYE!!!!!
I just read the abc magazine article about Billy Miller is talking about leaving GH! I have waited so long for a jasam reunion. I was shocked to read that that after all that now he wants to leave the show he said he is doing a pilot program to see how it goes, if the show picks up he might leave the show. I was really upset to read that. I don’t know if they will recast or not. I hope he changes his mind and stays or bring back the original Jason.

I agree. Robin coming and going is a waste. If Kimberly can’t commit to the roll, get a recast or end it. I loved her as Robin, but she needs to stay around longer than a few episodes then come back a year or two later.
